rbarsays...You dont see that often, Christopher Hitchens or Jon Stewart on the defense in a discussion. Nice.
Constitutional_Patriotsays...last statements in this vid:
Stewart: "Bush is Jefferson"
Hitchens: "Yes"
= Insanity on Film
jwraysays...Jefferson was a scholar, who believed in separation of church and state, and minimizing the power of the presidency.
Bush is an ignorant redneck, who believes in theocracy and maximizing the power of the presidency.
They both waged wars of aggression. Jefferson did not just against the Barbary Pirates, but also against the Native Americans.
dooglesays...*region.
You see that?
Yeah, that's right, this Canadian non-threateningly and politely invoked *region.
I did it once here, and I'll do it again. Because I won't make the bold feature request the Siftbot retroactively invoke unvoked invocations.
Abel_Priscsays...I have yet to see a Hitchens video where he -doesn't- act like a pompous ass. Even in the religious discussion videos where I agree with him.
In the first two minutes, his sarcasm towards every word that came out of Stewart's mouth when trying to make a point was unnecessary and assholish.
I like how Stewart kept trying to ease the tension with a joke...only to fail. lol
ashes2flamessays...It's official. The most reasonable and informed discussion on serious geo-political issues can now only be found on Comedy Central.
9058says...Yeah seriously why are these two having a more thoughtful deep discussion in only 10 minutes then all of the news programs have done in the last who knows how many years
calvadossays...Props again for putting the air date jwray!
EDIT: Even though, damn, it appears the Canadian site doesn't go back that far (yet?).
Morganthsays...Of course, Comedy Central has the best discussion of the topic that I've seen in four years. Dear CNN, FOX, MSNBC...I hate you all.
MaxWildersays...It's simple. Good comedy comes from a juxtaposition of knowledge. And farts.
bcglorfsays...I just wish I could watch these two talk for more than 5 minutes and see were they get. With everything Hitchen's knows about the world I believe that Jon's request to have things explained to him was truely what he wants to hear. He seems to very much respect Hitchen's and considers him better informed than himself and really wants to hear what it is that Hitchen's knows that puts his position at odds with Stewart's. Even after Jon very eloquently explains his legitimate disdain for Bush and Co., Hitchen's is right there with perspective by asking if he'd support the war if only the president were more persuasive.
