Inappropriate Soundtrack - Saving Private Ryan

So wrong, yet so right.

From YT: "DISCLAIMER: This video is a satire, as was the movie "Team America: World Police" from which the song comes from. If you think this is an affront to the sacrifices of our war veterans, then you are retarded. Conversely, if you think the video is a mega-patriotic montage dedicated to how awesome the United States of America is, then you are even more retarded.

So appropriate, considering the idiotic gung-ho behavior of the Republican party. Rich bastard corporates waving the flag and talking about sacrifice, when it is the less fortunate/educated of our society that dies for them. All for what? Oil and war profits.

FYI, my uncle was ON the beaches of Normandy, and was one of the lucky few to survive.

I'm sorry but this is horrible! honkeytonk's comment above may give some meaning to why this may have been created but I doubt the creator had that in mind. This makes a complete mockery of what they fought for and nothing more.
I would down vote this in a heartbeat... if I could.

lol I just found this music inappropriate for this specific clip. It's funny.

Any regards to hidden political puns of America's status over the world and what not flew above my head.

Just enjoy the clip as is, jee whiz fellas.

charliemsays...

Im sorry, but you guys have totally missed the point of the video.
SomethingAwful held a forum competition to see who could ruin a brilliant movie scene by changing the music to it, either by making it hilarious or otherwsie.

This was not an attempt at comment on politics in any way shape or form, nor was it meant as any disrespect to the vet's who gave their lives on the beach at normandy, just a mashup to see how it "feels" with different music.

I'm an artist, and as an artist I fully support and respect the notion that no subect is or should be taboo. That doesnt mean I don't get upset by stuff though, I'm human after all... contrary to popular belief
So while I support the idea of being able to do something like this I can still get insulted by it and dislike it. Thats all.

Bull, that's just a pretentious excuse tied to the need to reserve the use of shock value when an "artist" lacks the creativity and talent to actually make the real deal.

This is a hack job, not art

MrConradssays...

Youre right Swampgirl. I'll be clearer. No subject is taboo as long as theres a point, meaning, some greater purpose for its use. Thats not pretencious, thats at the core of free speech and descent. That is my opinion and there's a SHIT TON of a grey area there. This is not art, youre right. It is a hach job and it is/was actually very insulting to me.
I have a feeling I just picked the wrong battle for this argument.

twiddlessays...

The premise was okay for me, but the execution was weak. I down-voted not because of bad taste, inappropriate, etc, but because the music stinks and I didn't laugh. If you wanted votes you should have called it parody not comedy.

thinker247says...

I downvoted because I love that song too much to see it used in accordance with a serious movie.

But I do laugh at anybody who thinks of Saving Private Ryan as a historical movie, and thus above any use of mockery. I agree with twiddles that the execution was weak.

Constitutional_Patriotsays...

I thought it was a bad matchup. It wasn't funny seeing a bullet going through someone's head while hearing "fuck yeah!".

charliem :"I guess some people still arnt past WWII.

not past WWII huh? Well.. considering I never got to meet my grandfather because he died in Belgium fighting nazis, yeah.. I'm kinda pissed about that a little. But he gave his life so that Europeans would be free. If you feel it's cool and funny to make a parody of people dying while preserving freedom then you're a disrespectful ass.
