AeroMechanicalsays...I'm impressed by how they manage to get all the reflective objects, even moving objects like cars, to reflect the right stuff.

siftbotsays...Adding video to channels (Music) - requested by ant.
Gutspillersays...The problem is, I can tell every fucking time. Not exactly what is fake, just that the lighting or scene in general is wonky.
articiansays...This.

Xaielaosays...This is what defines 'bad cg' and 'good cg'. Good cg gets the lighting right.
KrazyKat42says...Fuck you it does matter.
ChaosEnginesays...Yes, in the sense that "bad cgi looks awful" and "good cgi allows you to create scenes that are otherwise impossible and/or cost prohibitive".

and @Gutspiller, it's easy to tell when you're shown this kind of comparison. You are subconsciously looking for the defects.
But I bet you didn't notice half the backgrounds in Fury Road when you first watched it.
Fuck you it does matter.
siftbotsays...Why CG Sucks (Except It Doesn't) has been added as a related post - related requested by ChaosEngine.
Khufusays...no you can't. These tweaks are in every movie, and you probably miss 90% of it.

vilsays...They often choose scene lighting that makes it easier to do the CGI. So the CGI ends up looking fine and the scene is busy and technically sound but its no piece of art cinematographically. More like a cross between a video game and a TV production (even the thumbnail).
If its a good movie who cares. Im for a good story over nice pictures.
There are often far worse things in a movie than the CGI.
shagen454says...So, I guess the job to get in the film industry is the guy who gets to go set up his camera, wait around and take high resolution video at fancy locations
