How Not to Do Brownies

Rule 6: know what drug(s) you are taking.
I'm pretty certain this was not just marijuana. As a person who has ingested over an oz of AAA quality marijuana in a single sitting, I will confidently say there was something else in those brownies to have this effect....unless he has a mental disorder. This is not a normal reaction to excess thc. I expect he unintentionally just got wet (pcp).

I ate a chocolate hash/pot ball at a party once and had a similar tripped out experience.

Another time I ate a cookie my sister was testing doses for cannabutter and it just knocked me out during a movie on the couch, woke up refreshed and hungry 4 hrs later. (I've also tried shrooms, ecstasy and acid at various times. )

Now I'm wondering if there was anything else in my choco ball of trippyness? Ah well, I just like a good bong now and again in my old age I guess. Though shrooms are by far the best high, best trip and long therapeutic effects afterwards. I might try that again. Good times!

Yeah, that doesn't sound like weed. No doubt, edibles can be powerful and I've definitely eaten some high doses that resulted in near inability to move & audio hallucinations/distortions. But, this sounds like he went through what they call ego-death, which is reliably found in moderate to high doses of psychedelics - "geometries from other Universes", in the void remembering that you had only dreamed that you were a human alongside extreme time dilation that feel infinite or like an eternity - are dead giveaways (pardon the pun). DMT is the best, of course. Get's one there in seconds and back in 10 minutes... instead of hours and hours....

I've been there where you loose your sense of time so even a minute can feel like an eternity! Mine was also pot induced, smoking a large amount, but I also suspected it was laced with something that me and my friends didn't know about...

Classic "I'm a pro drug guy" comments here. "I've never been that high so they must have been on some other drug". Guess what dumbass, everyone is different and reality is subjective. I've heard of many people having similar experiences on edible marijuana. Just because it didn't happen to YOU, does not mean it cannot be that way for others!! And how can you say "with confidence" about a situation you have no facts from? You can't. And to top it off you dismiss this person's experience by suggesting they could be mentally Ill. Pretty weak man.

Well, unless you've got quick access to a toxicology lab, this can be something of a challenge. It's one of the biggest problems with the prohibition approach...you can't ever be sure about what you're taking when it comes to street drugs.

But personally, I have doubts this "trip" ever really happened, or at least it was vastly exaggerated to make for a better story.

If you grow and bake your own, then you know exactly what's in them. That's about to be legal here in California.
This story was about being at least twice removed from those processes with zero information about what he took or even who made it. That's insane, the kind of insane I abandoned in my early 20's.

I also think this is likely creative writing and not recall.

So much wrong.

Reality is not subjective. That's insane. Your perception of reality is subjective, but only if you aren't careful.

Mental defect doesn't mean mental illness. It means your brain chemistry might be abnormal and react abnormally to drugs. Parkinson's isn't considered mental illness for example.

This story was about him stupidly taking totally unknown drugs from unknown sources, why on earth are your panties in such a bunch because I stated the obvious, that this is not a normal marijuana overdose experience?

Pretty weak, bro.
(You've already been chastised for the silly name calling)

Hey Newt,

Don't you live in NorCal around some of the dankest buds on Earth, where it's integrated into the culture heavily? Nah, you couldn't possibly have a clue about the range of experiences that edibles induce....

True enough...sadly, I live in a state perpetually stuck in the 1800s, AND have a terrible case of black thumb. Either one of which precludes me from growing my own.

For over 20 years....yep. and before that, I had a grower friend in Willits that supplied me well in the bay area.... but 35+ years of excessive experience taught me absolutely nothing about its effects.....yep.

Engelssays...

Newtboy, are you telling me you've never met anyone first hand that has had a psychedelic-type experience on edibles or just plain smoking flowers? Because although rare, it's still a thing. I've had some, very close to what this guy describes, and a friend of mine has them routinely. Are they strictly speaking hallucinations like under a psychotic episode? Not in my case, since the 'visualization' was in my mind's eye, and I wasn't literally seeing something appear in front of me, but it was psychedelic nonetheless.

newtboysays...

Yes, and no.
Psychedelic, sure. Total ego death infinite out of body experience, nothing close.
Edibles, smoking flowers, smoking or eating concentrates, no. Trust me, I've tried. ;-)
There's a huge difference between somewhat psychedelic and his description. HUGE.
Is it possible, probably yes, but imo only if he's extraordinarily susceptible to thc (or another cannabinoid)or psychotic episodes (which I think I read can be triggered by marijuana).
It's far more likely if the story is true that he unintentionally took lsd, pcp, or some other long lasting psychedelic (I think dmt wears off too quickly to include it).
