eric3579I have to agree (it has lost it's edge) even though i enjoyed this season of GOT it was hardly as WTF as previous seasons. I mean it's still GOTs, so still awesome. I however had thought some of the same things addressed in the video while watching. Won't talk about specifics because SPOILERS if anyone accidentally reads this.
ChaosEngineYeah, it's definitely not as complex, and there is a lack of consequences for people doing stupid things (i.e. everything Jon Snow does).
OTOH, it IS fun to watch and at some point, they do have to move the plot along. This season has been VERY heavy on the fan service, but they did earn those moments over the previous 5 seasons (S6 suffers from the same problems as S7).
Will be interesting to see how what direction the books take.
antIt's Edge? It is/has?
RedSkyI'm confused why they didn't make use of the full season episode count. The material clearly could support it and they could have easily padded out plenty of sections with more character interaction / dialogue.
That extra content using the same sets / locations would have surely been relatively cheap compared to the extra revenue it brought in.
PaybackIt won't have lost it's edge if the Night King wins.
entr0pyBecause I'm not up on entertainment news I had no idea this season would be only 7 episodes, and next season only 6. That really explains all of the problems with rushing through the plot.
It's still worth it to see how it ends. But it does feel a lot like, "Oh shit, now we only have 6 episodes to tell a story that should take 2 seasons"
