Fox spreading the idea that Mr Rogers was a bad influence

It amazes me the shit Fox will talk about. I cant imagine they can think a generation of kids feel as if they are owed something, due to Mr Rogers saying that they are special.

I have not had a great opinion of Fox News before, but this takes the cake, smashes it into the ground, stomps it into small pieces, and pisses on the table where the cake used to be. This has got to be the most uncalled-for attack on what has to be one of the most honest and decent people that I have ever seen in my entire life. And to make matters worse, he's one of their own. Mr. Rogers is the absolute best example of how religion can produce someone who is good and kind and wonderful, taking up all the positive aspects while rejecting all of the more numerous negatives. Mr. Rogers was a genuinely good person, and that's hard to come by these days. So, to see him run into the ground like this is the worst poison imaginable.

To be clear, Mr. Rogers did tell kids that they were "special" just for "being you." It was part of his attempt to reach out to kids who maybe weren't so privilaged at birth; kids who weren't the right color; kids who weren't instantaneously smart; kids who weren't as wealthy as the kids next door; kids who were abused and felt like the world just stomped all over them all the time. Kids at their lowest point could look up to Mr. Rogers and feel like they were all right, even if the crap they had to put up with and deal with on a daily basis, wasn't.

Frankly, if you're going to attack Mr. Rogers, you might as well go all the way. Burn the Bible. Piss on Jesus. Shit on a picture of Mary. He was the best example of the best sort of person who holds these sort of religious beliefs, so I sincerely hope that there really is a fiery hell for all those F*#$ing bastards to have perpetuated this ridiculous, unwarrented, and horribly stupid attack on one of the best people who have ever had the privilage of walking upon this planet.

Couldnt watch the whole thing due to my total disgust at Fox. Seems like there is no level they wont descend to in order to push an agenda.

Very depressing that is supposed to be the highest rated "news" channel. I regard them as ideology driven, censored news for a democratic society. Revolting.

Ignorance, pure and simple. Do none of these people ever watch his programs? They don't get him at all?

Mr Rogers wasn't preaching material entitlement regardless of merit, he was talking about compassion and caring. Love damnit, and ALL children are entitled to that!!

The problem with this channel, other than it's news casting, is it's desire to emulate the WW2 Generation wanting to represent a contrast to the Baby Boomers. They are failing to instill hard working/strong ethic images with this rhetoric, they're just looking stupid here.

Mr. Rogers never went out to replace parenting, he simply cared about children's feelings. Let's look back to what motivated Mr Rogers to go into television. He was going to be a Presbyterian minister, but he became interested in television. It was a new medium. He had an amazing gift for compassion that children were drawn to, so he felt called to minister...YES, MINISTER to them.

His mission was to let all children know that they were born special people worthy of love and respect as human beings.....AND THEY ARE! They don't have to earn that, it's immoral to teach them otherwise. If a child is not thriving or learning to be a responsible person, it is the parent's doing.

This is no different than parents blaming sexual/violent TV and violent video games for their children's bad behavior. It's so tiresome listening to folks thinking that we can blame anything or anyone for their lack of leadership in their children.

Shameful, If we could pick one representative for Mankind to show what the human heart is capable of showing...I would pick Mr. Rogers.

Such righteous indignation! The rest of the US media, which y'all confirm as liberally-biased every time y'all whine about FOX, denigrates the President of the US around the clock and tries to break the morale of our military and its supporters, and here y'all are whining about, what exactly?

Fred Rogers doesn't give a shit either way, according to the many atheists around here he's just a pile of meaningless dust now.

Remember?

BTW Fox News Channel isn't conservative: "Even employees of Fox News, which is widely regarded as a conservative channel, donate 81 percent of their contributions to Democrats." --John Lott in new book "Freedomnomics"

"Even employees of Fox News, which is widely regarded as a conservative channel, donate 81 percent of their contributions to Democrats."

How asinine. As if the employees get to decide on the programming.

Fox News is programming for assholes, by assholes.

I'm glad the weatherman is an expert.

And Mr. Rogers is clearly the only thing that affects self esteem.

People are special. Everyone is special and entitled to fair and equal treatment.

I think the bigger issue with kids feeling they shouldn't work for their grades is because their parents get up in arms when they precieve someone calling their kids stupid (which they often are). So the parents get up in arms and insist the teachers give their kids the grade the parents think they deserve, not what they earned. Worse is when teachers cave to this abuse and only reinforce the behavior in both the children and the parents. Same with parents who are appalled that their star quarterback son is kept from the game because he hasn't attended any of his classes.

"This just in, every child is NOT special. Mr. Rogers was a liar, and has ruined a generation of children." Are you sure this isn't from The Onion News Network?

I'd like to punch these assholes in their collective throat. Unbelievable group-think. How can they not see how horrid, how putrid their comments are? And they deliver these jabs at the memory of a wonderful man from smiling faces, as if their banter is potentially helpful and worth listening to.

what about god and jesus?
jesus loves you UNCONDITIONALLY according to the mythology.
why isn't jesus teaching people that they need to work hard to be loved and saved?

also, like some twit who is paid to talk for one hour each day has any clue what hard work is.

This is sooooo infuriating, and this is why anyone and everyone who owns a televison should block out FAUX's f---in putrid bullsh-- channel. I happened to have known Mr. Rogers (RIP), and I feel that watching this assault is like an attack on one of my own family, or attacking someone like Mother Teresa, or anything that is just and good about mankind. How f--kin' LOW can you go??? If this was a real news channel, I would send them hate mail. Luckily for them, they are just trash.

Zonbiesays...

This is so so sad, I cannot believe this actually made it as "news"

You'd have to be a retard to even consider the idea of blame a childrens TV presenter...for um, what - I am sorry FOX what are you saying? He made people feel apathetic?

Hitler would have been a TV presenter if he knew it carried THIS much influence...

What a load of shit!
