Fat Cat gets stuck in the cat door

from SirloinBiffsteak on YT:

This is typical. It beats me how human civilisation ever advanced when they can't even sort out a reasonably-sized catflap for me. As if trying to squeeze through that hopelessly miniscule hole isn't humiliating enough, they have to leave carrier bags full of bottles for recycling by the entrance, which makes the whole pallaver noisy and tiresome. I wouldn't mind but the Master and Mistress frequently stand there and guffaw as I struggle to get into the house. I can't see the joke myself, but I've learned that humans are strange, mysterious creatures.

No, that cat door is not that small. The cat is HUGE. Obese and unhealthy. It disgusts me that pet owners let their animals get that fat. You can't just let your animal eat as much as it wants whenever it wants. They don't have that little voice that tells them when to stop. Which, incidentally, many humans don't have, either.

My cats aren't fat, and I have one of those gravity feeding things so the food is available 24/7 for them to eat whenever and however much they want.

I'm willing to believe you that your cats aren't fat. Maybe they have that little voice tHat tells them when to stop. I guess some cats can eat whenever they want and are still healthy, but I find that many pet owners are in denial about their animal's weight problem.

To rate your cats' weight:

To perform the rating, we first feel the cat's ribs. We should be able to quite easily feel the ribs. There should be a slight amount of fat over them, but each rib should be distinct. If you can see the ribs, the pet is too thin. If you can not feel them at all, the pet is very overweight.

Second, check the area near the base of the tail. There should be a slight fat covering over this area and it should feel smooth. If the bones protrude, the pet is too thin; if you can not feel any bones at all, the pet is very overweight.

Third, feel other bony prominences on the pet's body such as the spine, shoulders, and hips. Again, you should be able to feel a small amount of fat over these areas. If these bones are easily felt or visible, the cat is too thin. If you can not feel the bones beneath the layer of fat, the animal is obviously overweight.

Fourth, look at your cat from above. The animal should have a definite waist behind the ribs. If the waist is extreme, or again, bony prominences are visible, the animal is too thin. If there is no waist, or worse yet, the area between the ribs and hips is wider than the hips or ribs, the cat is grossly overweight.

Fifth, look at the cat from the side. Cats should have an abdominal tuck, i.e., the area behind the ribs should be smaller in diameter than the chest. An animal who is too thin will have a very severe abdominal tuck. Overweight animals will have no abdominal tuck.

I have two cats. One is older and we have always left an abundance of food out for her and shes tiny and very strong and healthy. Now..our younger cat is a fatass. It has to do with your cats personality or wiring or something. we got our younger one from a lady that gave her to us way too young and in the middle of the nigh. stores weren't open for formula until next morning so she was pretty hungry most of the night....so i think she has a food security problem and overeats because of her childhood food trauma....ahaha or maybe im reading WAY too deep into it
