Fans Toss 20,000+ Teddy Bears Onto Ice in Portland

Portland Winter Hawks fans threw what was reportedly a world record 20,372 stuffed animals on the ice after what they thought was their team's first goal of the season -- a goal which officials later disallowed.

The bears were tossed as part of the annual "Teddy bear toss" and were donated as Christmas presents to local hospitals and charities.

Also, a hockey scout at the game 'lost' a laptop during the toss. One of the fuzzy projectiles didn't have enough velocity to make it all the way to the ice but it did manage to find his drink. The contents of his beverage then happily filled up his laptop which didn't respond well to this un-expected bath.
