Awesome find! Thankyou

Thanks! Al'Jazeera is an excellent news organisation, putting to shame a great amount of Western ones. I highly recommend adding it to your YouTube subscriptions (i.e. How I found this .

@Enzoblue Haha yeah I thought that's what I heard, too. But I just went back to listen again, he does say "Hedges", I guess it's just the accent.

just added Green Zone, Rendition, and Redacted to my Netflix queue.

Also, it's interesting that those scenes were removed from Charlie Wilson's War... I thought that was common knowledge that the Taliban was armed/trained by the CIA to fight the Russians in Afghanistan at the time.

Although a far cry from a cinematic masterpiece, even Rambo III (1988) pointed out the fact that no one will win a war in Afghanistan.

I couldn't tell if Michael Moore liked Red Dawn, or was being sarcastic.

Right because a predominantly Muslim news organization labeling the West as Empires so insurgents and other terrorist factions can feel good about targeting and killing us is not offensive in the lest. Why don't we just name this news organization what it really is. Propaganda News showing how bombing a market in Pakistan is a blow to western ideas. A subsidiary of Faux News, Spreading the hate for ratings and profit.

It might even be a good story and make some very good points but now I'm not going to watch it.

Someone want to tag it *propaganda for me?

Couple years ago, I submitted this documentary which looks at how the militarization of popular culture -- including reality shows and video games -- has turned war into a spectacle of entertainment.

Thx for that link its quite interesting to watch especially the part about military tech fetishes...

You haven`t watched it but you wanna tag it as propaganda???

Definitely contains good interviews with Moore and Stone. I hope they dedicate a full doc on the specifics of the relationship between Hollywood and the Pentagon. It seems to me that, possibly, Hollywood might be manipulating the military by accurate use of history. So, for instance the ghost writer or whoever puts a spin on the next Incredible Hulk script. Spins it so it takes place in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge just so the Pentagon offers up use of their gear in order to re-write the script.

As I've stated I find the title insulting and offensive. It would be like me starting a news segment on Faux news channel titled,
Terrorists: Muslim religious groups and Al Qaeda Media. Terrorists examines the symbiotic relationship between the Middle Eastern religion and the IED and sniper videos filmed for the internet.

The title of the program already has made the statement that the U.S. wants to take over your country. EMPIRE! Being a prominently Muslim based News organization it its telling everyone in the middle east that.

This is the same reason I won't watch Fox News. So while they may be trying to get my attention and prove a point. Insulting the country I live in is not a good way to start. So lets continue to look at the title. Hollywood and the War Machine. Wow so its not the U.S military or Defense contractors. Its the WAR machine.... So now the men and women in uniform serving my country are no longer doing so. They are there for the express purpose of starting wars. Great 2 insults and I've not even started watching the video yet but I've got a good Idea where its going. SO no i'm not going to watch it. The Propaganda in the title alone has stated enough already.

Thats a good point youre making, the title really sends out a certain anti american message..

But its still quite interesting to watch and not really comparable to fox news from a intellectual point of view.

Empire is a new monthly segment on Al'Jazeera, covering more than just the US.

See a list of the previous episodes here.

If you hate propaganda, don't watch any news. Don't listen to anyone who has a belief. They ALL shape what they say. Al Jazzera is anti-american, it's just plain obvious. This video is proof. Look at the "fair and balanced" list of guests he has. He's pushing the idea that the american military controls hollywood. He doesn't allow for anything other than his view. That's propaganda. Just because Al Jazzera has the opposite view of Fox News doesn't make them any better.

Paybacksays...

OMFG. 40 minutes in, Moore says "If the Iraqi people had wanted to overthrow Saddam, they would have."

Like, I understand where he's coming from, but that is possibly the most naive statement I have ever heard from someone who has such a political personality. He takes his background as an American, and plasters it onto the Iraqis just as badly as Dubya did. Who the fuck would try to overthrow a million-man, mechanized army with stones and ceremonial knives? Oh man, I upvote for the debate-worthiness, but that bullshit statement made me end watching.
