newtboyWhere's the "Peter Gunn" music?
Smokescreen and caltrops, but no oil slick? I guess that's why he got caught.
antAnd the trucks? Where is the aftermath recording?

notarobotSpyHunter would have been better prepared.

newtboyHe just barely missed the right hand cut off to the boat house. I've missed that one myself.

greatgooglymooglysays...I think his engine was just blown, looked like water vapor to me. I worked in a garage once and the owner had me drive an audi around to burn off the oil that had collected in the exhaust system. At full throttle it would have blanketed a two lane road completely for 200+ yards.
aimpointsays...I was thinking something similar, but did you catch the caltrops in the smoke? That would be the most ideal time to deploy since it would obscure them.

iauiDropping caltrops is crazy. Doesn't look like it slowed the police car down any, though...
About the smoke I agree that it was probably just the engine dying in some way but it could have been some sort of modification to the exhaust system that would introduce oil or water into it in order to have it create the cloud. I mean, they did have caltrops on hand...
A big part of why this went on for so long though was that the cops clearly don't have training like they do in North America to deal with this kind of thing. A big empty country road would make this person fodder for any of the cars they have here and cops would immediately run a PIT maneuver and end the chase instantly.
Fairbssays...And if they were black, they would have shot them

lucky760The spikes needed to be like the ones they made on Mythbusters. Those were bent, sharpened hollow tubes and as soon as tires hit those they got shredded, whereas the non-hollow ones just stuck into the tires and self-plugged the holes they created, as what happened here.
