What this guy doesn't realize is that it's not the knuckle-dragging bigot he needs to be concerned about, it's straight people who share alot of his culture and ideology, sans the gay issue. Knuckle Dragging Bigots don't have the power to keep people out of hospital rooms or the intelligence to set such policy.

My gut feel is, if Mr. Savage wasn't gay, he wouldn't be so gung-ho about equality. I hear an undercurrent of cultural bias in this short clip.And once gays like him get their civil liberties, they will join their straight counterparts in exuding effete bigotry.

Damn. And here I can all the way into the comments just to see QM's predictable flaming rant about if Mr. Savages blatant anti-american views were ever put into practice society would fall apart. Ah well. Still never let it be said I don't appreciate having the other side of the argument presented.

Longde possibly has a point, but then if he wasn't gay, he wouldn't be the person he is now. He wouldn't have had all those experiences that made him who he is right now. So you can't really say whether or not he would be so gung ho about equality without being gay. What exactly would he be bigoted about once he got his civil liberties Longde? (or anyone for that matter) I would normally say that having been in his position he couldn't possibly be to bigoted about anyone else not having civil liberties but then with all those black votes voting FOR prop 8 a while ago... well. But that particular idiosyncratic moment I blame on religion.

i agree its wrong how things are. And i think being gay should be A-ok. ...but damnit campness pisses me off. I try to let it slide, but it gets me every time.

most of the people i know arent gay and most of the people i know are actually pretty damn gung ho about equality.
deciding people dont care if it doesnt actually directly affects them is part of the problem.

hes in the position he is in because has the outlet. he is a writer and sex columnist. and is intelligent and poised and wise and articulate and clever. the recent series of savage videos on the sift are from talks and q&a sessions he has at colleges, answering peoples questions about sex. he didnt go there to proselytize a gay agenda. he was answering a question a student asked at a sexuality education talk.

so we can assume that the audience isnt overwhelming gay, and the audience seems pretty fucking gung ho about equality too.

i reject your statements that people that dont belong to your particular group arent concerned with your plight. and i dont think he actually meant neanderthal when he said "knuckle dragging bigot". im half limbaugh, the limbaughs are all knuckle dragging bigots. theyre also all extremely wealthy and powerful.
