Cop Engaged In Traffic Stop Leads To Life Sentence

Again a policeman ended the life of a peaceful American citizen, when will this finally stop??
newtboysays...

I'm so glad to know that crime is non existent in their area, so much so that officers have nothing to do with their taxpayer owned time and equipment but prank citizens.

Mekanikalsays...

I wouldn't call a proposal a prank. This guy has friends. Who wouldn't pull a few strings? Especially for something special like this. I'm sure the taxpayers wouldn't mind. It's not like his friend is ignoring a call to do this.

newtboysays...

I would absolutely call it a prank. It's the 'you're in big trouble...nope, gotcha!' prank.
I'm a taxpayer...I mind. I'm sick of public servants using public time, funds, and equipment for their personal enjoyment as if they weren't being paid to work or supplied with equipment for a public purpose. That's not what I over pay my taxes for.
The police constantly whine about being over worked and under staffed, every one of these videos is another nail in that argument's coffin.
Who's to say he's not ignoring a call? That's an assumption not based on information.

Jinxsays...

I get that your proposal is gotta be unique and special and surprising and get x many views on youtube now... but proposing in some parking lot off by the side of the road? Seems like all prank, no romance. I think I'd have left him kneeling there a lil longer

Lighten up dude.

Just my .02 since I'm in this field of work.

He is most likely off duty. Looking at his uniform (he isn't wearing one) and the fact he has no gear on his duty belt tells me this was done off hours. Another possibility is this was done by a training facility / academy where most training Officers/Deputies wear the polo style shirt / khakis and do not wear much gear.

Either way, more than highly likely not on duty.

Now you may all proceed to rant about all other aspects of this video.

newtboysays...

If that's the case, that he's off duty, isn't this a much more serious crime? Improperly using the cop car, lights and siren, badge, weaponry, and authority of his position to pretend to be an officer preforming his duties when he's really harassing and pranking someone as a private citizen? That should definitely be a felony.

Actually, no. He has his badge displayed prominently, and his cuffs, pepper spray, and gun on his belt. He may be off duty, true, but there's nothing about his uniform that would indicate that. Not all officers wear blues. I've seen many officers on duty wearing similar clothing and gear.

No matter what, it's an abuse of his power and equipment for his own personal amusement.

I should turn myself in for being a rapist. What I mean is, I saw a story the other day about a white guy being convicted of rape. I'm white and I'm a guy, so therefore, I must also be a rapist, right? That's the general message that these kinds of "look, a cop breaking the law!" videos are trying to send out. Fortunately, most are smart enough to see through the bullshit.

When will people stop labeling all cops as bad because of the infinitesimal number that make mistakes?

newtboysays...

Watch the video...your comment makes it clear that you didn't.

You see a white guy walking a black dog and you see racism.
Every thing you do and see is through a racist prism.
Narrow minded NEWT

Clear violation my but.

newtboysaid:

Oh shit...another clear posting violation.
You want to be banned, don't you?

newtboysays...

Yep, that's some seriously wasteful bullshit, even if most involved are off duty, that's thousands and thousands of tax dollars in traffic/crowd control, and hundreds in vehicle upkeep for some feels. We don't pay taxes for that type of use, so it's theft. It's nice to know that there's no crime in SF and that their police equipment was just sitting around totally unneeded....oh, wait.

It's amazingly hypocritical of you to support this kind of blatant waste of taxpayer money when you are one who screams bloody murder about taxes and needed services costing way too much. Justify your position.

I guess we'll never again hear you complain about taxes or government waste then, huh? That alone makes it worth the massive waste of money and services for me (but I didn't have to be inconvenienced by that crap either, like thousands trying to work were).

Edit: How would you react if that little bat boy was black? Not as supportive, I'm 100% certain.

bobknight33said:

Just for you @newtboy

This Batkid and all San Francisco cops and government officials wasting your government dollars --

Blow your gasket now.

newtboysays...

Really? So you don't think your statement "white people don't have crime" is blatantly racist? Well, no one ever accused you of possessing good comprehension skills.

And another adhom violation to boot.
You really DO want me to make an issue of this, don't you? You know what happened to the last guy with no self control that tried that, right?
Try again, I can make it an issue if you insist.

Also, learn to spell your insults.

Dunno what drugs you've been on for the last few months, but you're starting to make me sympathise with BK33...

His statement was sarcastic... He even ticked the fucking sarcasm box for the visual cue that some people actually need to stop them going off half cocked.

edit: Hrm, dunno if quotes pick up on the sarcasm check box (said vs said jokingly) but they are different, unsure of timing but guess he ticked it after the fact to make the context clear (but seriously, who couldn't figure out that was a joke?!?).

Seriously Newt, you are the one being trollish and antagonistic here. More to the point, we see police brutality vids and you're all over them (justifiably), why can't we have some vids where the cops are being part of the community, fostering good spirit and showing that they are, for the most part, regular human beings just like the rest of us?

Call it "community engagement" if you need to. You think the police don't spend millions every year trying to fix up their public image? Something like this going viral is probably worth many times whatever actual time was spent making it. Well it would be if nitpicking whiners weren't losing their shit over it.

Seriously mate, you used to be cool but you're turning in to a bit of a wanker.

I think he hit the button after I called him out.
Have you talked to him? It's not out o character for him to make a statement like that.
This is why I reengaged.......
http://videosift.com/video/Suicide-Bombings-and-Islam-An-Apologists-Guide

It came before this thread.

You can see those types of pro cop videos, I've posted some myself...but when they do it for personal gratification, web hits or a friend's web hits and not as a community outreach type thing, like here, I can complain that they did it on my dime. Same when the outreach gets out of control like batkid shutting down downtown San Francisco on a busy workday, costing untold dollars.
So sorry that I'm not on board with their viral marketing campaign involving abusing their authority for fun....I would rather have them working instead of wasting time trying to go viral. That doesn't come close to stopping them, though, so fret no more.

Newt, I feel so sorry for you. You just seem way to uptight and angry. Hope you have a better new year.
