Chris Matthews DESTROYS Right Wing Talking Head

HAHAHAHA, I wish someone would do this to Hannity or O'Reilly. This loser doesn't know any history past his own GOP talking points. Matthews absolutely crushed this pathetic little parrot for the Bush administration. The smackdown begins at 2 minutes in.

This clip encourages me.

Matthews shows awareness of history, insists on calling someone out when it's misrepresented, and in the end sets the record straight with the facts.

If the media starts doing this all the time, the Republican party is finished.

God help us, we may be seeing the beginning of the end of the era of truthiness.

You all clearly missed the fact that Kevin James made no admission of error and thus was at least as correct as the other parties in this exchange. Coupled with his superior volume, it's clear he was the victor.

"We're talking with people with blank slates as far as history is concerned..." wow. We've always wondered what would happen if we fail to teach history and rhetoric. It is as serious as graduating engineers who don't know math.

I have to say, though, that I'm pretty sure as he was forming his argument, Matthews was looking off to the left probably at a teleprompter where a producer was likely pasting stuff from Wikipedia about Chamberlain. I hate to be that skeptical.

Zor, I seriously doubt it. Chamberlain giving away half of Czechoslovakia, and then brandishing a signed agreement from Hitler and proclaiming that he had "secured peace for our time" is basic ninth grade history here in Ontario. It's the type of basic WWII fact all the grown-ups surrounding the young Chris Matthews would have been railing about incessantly at the dinner table for the twenty years following the war.

I admit that I had no idea Chamberlain gave half of Czechoslovakia to Hitler, and I'm a history major in college! However, I would not use the word "appeaser" without knowing this information, and if caught using it, I wouldn't try to deflect criticism as if I really knew what I was talking about. But I'm not a talking head, so...

This is like a bad flashback for me. I had a "discussion" with a student several weeks ago about Iraq and American foreign policy. He played the part of Kevin, I played the part of Chris. I wonder if there is a course right wingers take to be able to keep up that level of ear-piercing shalking (that's shouting and talking at the same time) over an extended period of time? I would try to make a reasoned point with this kid and he would interrupt me and then shalk all over me. It was exhausting.

Indeed, again demonstrating the Right Wing's method of politics, create something, yell it really loudly until people think you're knowledgable, and try and hide and silence anyone who demonstrates your complete simpleton and incorrect knowledge of fact.

The bullcrap that he spouts and the minutes of trying to bluff his way out of not having any idea of the piece of history he's talking about... brilliant. Brilliant show up of a simple minded idiot.

The problem is that in so many cases these people shout this crap with conviction, and people believe it to be true because they shout it loudly enough and with enough venom.
