Cheney Admits to Authorizing Torture

Dick (hehe) Cheney admits that he authorized torture. For those following, that's illegal and he should probably leave this interview and walk directly to the nearest prison.

I agree.

This is why whenever I see a person jaywalk, I shoot everyone within 100 yards of that person. They allowed that person to jaywalk and deserve to die. Then I hunt down their families - by not properly raising them, they are supporting lawbreakers! It keeps me busy, but anything less of a response would mean that I'm a "qm liberal"... and I couldn't face that.

How ironic is it that the nation that penned the Geneva conventions, the human rights declaration, the nation most opposed to torture during the Nuremberg trails and the cold war is now fully supports torture.

The new USSR laughs at America.

these torturers represent a threat to democracy.

bomb the pentagon.

no wait, why not destroy the world trade centre?

violence is the only language these yanks understand.

wait... what's that you say?

So when Timothy McVeigh bombed the Murrah Federal Building in 1995, because he saw the entire US government as terrorists, that was okay with you? Interesting.

So when Timothy McVeigh bombed the Murrah Federal Building in 1995, because he saw the entire US government as terrorists, that was okay with you?

Of course not. McVeigh's actions were dead wrong and he was summarily brought to justice for his crime. Whatever point he was trying to make about government thuggery at Waco was drowned out by his monstrous, nihilistic act. Not only did he fail, he gave the thugs at Waco and lots of other government slime more power to encroach on liberty.

There are both good and bad people on the liberal side and the conservative side, the same can be said for people in different countries and religious affiliations. The important thing to remember here is that we all disagree frequently, and the appropriate response to that disagreement is not violence.

So when you say that (as Bill'O the Jerkoff put it) "THEY'RE TERRORISTS. They deserve to be tortured." please remember, we're not wild animals. We're all living breathing human beings and a product of our environment. We need to RESPOND to the things these people are doing in a very deliberate and well thought out way; and not simply react by grilling them for information with torture. Why stoop to their level? as the old adage goes. We're better than that, well some of us are.

I wonder, for those of you who are for this kind of treatment, if innocent people get tortured in the process does that thought ruffle your feathers at all? If innocent people are tortured does that mean that the torturers are next in line for not doing their homework and treating a person cruelly for no reason at all other than suspicion. What if it were your son or your daughter? THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS and we are not wild animals, there is a non-violent way to solve our conflicts.

But dont listen to me, im just a hippie liberal douche right?

I had a dream once, after watching Fahrenheit 9/11, that I was at crawford ranch with G. W. Bush and I asked him if he had seen the movie and how it made him feel. He looked at me with sad eyes and said "It makes me feel like I'm crying on the inside.".

Not sure what to think about his poor choice in the people he surrounded himself with, but I really don't believe he is a bad person. Cheney is bad. He values life over money. That is bad. That is always bad. Rumsfeld was the same way. They are bad people. That is how it is.

G. H. W. Bush ran a much more centrist government. Cheney and Rumsfled had much less sway then.

I hope that the corruption is rooted out with our new administration.

Bottom line... Do we have Osama? Then torture did nothing but belittle our people. Period.

Whatever point we were trying to make about Taliban thuggery on September 11th would be drowned out by our monstrous, nihilistic act of turning an entire country into a "glass parking lot."

Not only would we fail, we would give the Taliban and lots of other terrorist slime more power to attack us.

Yes, that's true.

The jihadists not being tortured for our amusement but to save lives. At some point these men decided to pick up arms and kill innocents--mostly their own people--in the name of Allah or whatever. The moment they picked up a weapon with that intent, they effectively ended their right to be considered human beings.

I wonder, for those of you who are for this kind of treatment, if innocent people get tortured in the process does that thought ruffle your feathers at all?

It's an unhappy byproduct of war that innocent human beings are caught in the crossfire. That's reality. We're trying our best not to do undue harm as it injures the cause.

Fifteen million Muslims were freed from the whims of a tyrant who tortured his own people for decades, yet the focus of blame here is on "Cheney's torture". It's as ridiculous as raising hell over a death row inmate's hangnail while forgetting the victims he killed with an ax.

I think I've finally determined QM's true identity. Is that you, Anne Coulter?

High praise, my friend, though that wasn't your intent. I'm not quite @ Ann's wicked level of annihilating satire.

Also, it's spelled "Ann", ending with an N. Like "Hussein" in Obama's middle name.

Are you in the military? Have you fought in Iraq or Afghanistan?

What possible relevance could this have to the matter at hand? Lee Harvey Oswald was a Marine, did that give him credibility to comment on matters of war?

Hi QM you don't know shit about the USSR kthxbai

Hi MINK I know the USSR failed and is now where it belongs: the ash heap of history. I hope the Russian people assassinate Putin long before he can revive it.

QM - So, I'm assuming you have never been in the military, nor fought in Iraq or Afghanistan, or else you would've answered my question.

I am very tolerant of you, and I even upvote your comments. I think a lot of what you say here is quality, and you speak your mind well.

But, you are just another one of these pigs who are fine with sending other people to die for your demented and sick little dreams. You are too much of a coward to go fight yourself, just like Bush, just like Cheney, and just like the rest of these ugly, backward fools. You deserve no good graces from any of us when you spew these disgusting rants.

Torturing almost every individual who is male and of fighting age who happens to be in the mere vicinity of a patrolled area is pretty amusing to me. Jihadists don't wear a uniform. How much actionable intelligence torture given? Has it given Osama Bin Laden? Mohammad Omar? any of the Al Qaeda leadership?

The US can't even prosecute any of the individuals held in Guantanamo in anything other then a closed military tribunal because it would clarify that the evidence and confessions gathered would be deemed irrelevant once the mental state of those held was shown.

It's very easy to say false positives is just the unhappy truth of war, until you are held and tortured because the system said you were one, only to be released years later without so much of a compensation for the mental and psychological damage it has done.
