Cheating Death - Near Misses With Trains

LiveLeak: 'If ever you had a death wish, it would be from playing with trains. Enjoy the compilation.'

Driving around a boom barrier ought to be punishable by being hanged, drawn and quartered.

I see those fools over here all the time. Traffic is backing up at the other side of the railroad crossing, yet they insist on an attempt at crossing it, only to find themselves between lowered booms, in the path of a couple of thousand tons of steel. What remains is a fine mist of steel and aluminium ... and surviving relatives being billed for tens if not hundreds of thousands of Euros in damages.

Oh. My. God @ -7:15, with the guy jumping away from one and then back from another. That was some Mission Impossible-style bs. My goodness, he looks like he works for the train, too. How could he be so stupid to not see/hear it coming?

I actually couldn't help yelling MOVE a couple times even though I knew they were going to make it based on the title (although I have to say, it doesn't look like 7:08 was a miss, sadly)

Also, the guys reaction (twice!) at -7:15 is nothing short of amazing

So, so stupid.

I once crossed a fairly busy set of many railroad tracks against my better judgment. I was on a day trip with several companions and we were done at the beach and wanted to get back to the rail station. Even though the station was on the beach there was no pedestrian access. Kind of dumb, actually. I even found a map of it:

So instead of going a kilometer out of the way my companions jumped the wall and ran across the tracks. I was pissed about this decision, but I wasn't eager to get left behind in a foreign country. I fell flat on my face crossing the tracks. Luckily, no trains were coming.

Many people have called bullshit on that particular segment. I agree, it looks faked.

There appears to be 2 potential deaths here:

~7:07 a baby carriage rolls onto the track and is promptly demolished by the train pulling into station.

~7:50 it appears two men are fighting and one is shoved onto the tracks leaving the other hanging over the edge of the platform. A bystander pulls the second man to safety but the first man is still presumably on the tracks as the train leaves the station.

I'd argue quite a few of those people deserved to be hit a little by each of those trains...maybe some legs crushed so they don't do that shit in the future. Guy @3:40 got hit in the lower leg/feet enough to spin him, if he keeps that shit up I think it'd be OK to put him down for the safety of humanity.

I can't imagine being a train engineer and seeing this everyday, after getting chewed out for being late enough...you probably won't bother trying to slow down to avoid crushing the non-metal stuff. Maybe stick a window on each side of the train so the guy can hang out the side and shoot the people too dumb to stop off the tracks, at least then you'd be making a choice at maiming these people and not have to live with being unable to avoid splattering them on the tracks. Or a nice electrified fence to keep the herd off the tracks.

And guy hopping between trains looks fake as hell. The guy in the video doesn't appear to be affected by the trains passing and the trains look like they are going much too fast in an area where the tracks could possibly divert their course...there'd be no time to even attempt to correct it.

Stumbling lady @2:00ish had enough sense to try to lay flat with the train coming....so maybe she wasn't drunk......but you'd almost have to be to be that unstable on your feet and stand that close to the tracks. Although the old guy waving the train down nearly got his head bashed in by the train.

That incident was here in Australia - the baby survived with only minor injuries, fortunately. The mother had been distracted by a phone call and forgot to set the brake on the stroller. Unfortunately, the same thing happened in the same city seven months later, but again, the boy survived.

Though this aspect is not covered in the game, I now want to go play Railroad Tycoon.

Well the original did show trains crashing into each other, and off bridges. Not the same, but oh so awesome.

I never built wooden bridges if I could help it to avoid the scenario of a train falling into off the washed out bridge (because you were too cheap to install signal towers to HOLD all traffic)... except that one time when I really wanted to see the cutscene.

Also, this is a fantastic bit of background music to drown out whatever "meh" they had going on.
(Seriously sifting this up in response... and because I like it, of course.)

Better then I thought it would be, but what the hell is the deal with the 20 seconds of guy falling on the tracks at 6:38?

And then we don't even see him get pulled off, leads me to believe that maybe one of these wasn't a near miss.

The next shot of a train pulling away is actually the continuation of that scene from the in-station camera. You can see the man on the tracks move, I believe raising an arm. He is lifted onto the platform, and then lies motionless, but he was not killed by the train.>> ^xxovercastxx:
