BoneyDsays...Yes, the interviewer was annoying and very unprofessional! Grasping at any straw to discredit Dawkins, rather than quiz him further as to his meaning in the responses. I got the sense of some post-editing in this, on the part of CBC, but Richard probably could have had the foresight to choose a different analogy than 'sexual misfirings' for the explaination of altruism.
Isn't it ironic that once again, good ol' Stalin and Hitler come to the aid of the religious when combatting the godless. </sigh>
8727says...wow, dawkins finally gave a good argument against the Stalin example. i sometimes can think of better arguments than he uses sometimes - so i'm surprised he's seen as the atheist's champion (i guess it's because he's a good author).
yeah there was definitely some editing there as there were no breaks in speech at all, condensed.
ObsidianStormsays...The interviewer completely missed the point that "misfire" was not a value term, hence the misperception that Dawkins was "demeaning" altruism.
blankfistsays...Self-link. * ban. Just kidding.
BoneyDsays...Obsidian, it's more to say he knew his audience would not be able to tell the difference.

Oh, te joy!
RedSkysays..."Horny to be good" - this is the point when I facepalm. Also I find it amusing that seemingly the only point that the interviewer stumbled upon a question that wasn't refutable in under 10 seconds he decided to cut it off with a moronic bridging section.

calvadossays...@gwiz: No, that's not self-linking.
That interviewer's a dweeb, anybody know who he is?
Oh, and btw, when Dawkins was going on about "faith despite a lack of evidence" -- faith IS believing in something when there's a lack of evidence (not necessarily in a religious context). As in "leap of faith", etc. I've heard a few people say "I'll believe in God when it's proven to me that God exists" and they are missing the point.
