Azureus Rising - Kickass Proof Of Concept Trailer

From YT:
Azureus Rising is the proof-of-concept for an all new feature film trilogy. Azureus is the story of a young man who after escaping death and enduring a life changing journey - matures into a heroic freedom fighter. I kept waiting for a non-action part. When are people going to realize that action is boring without reason...without tension? It's like the new Star Wars movies...you never think anyone's going to die, so there's no tension. The only people that are in danger are people you just don't give a crap about, and all the main characters are just running around in perfectly choreographed action scenes.

Here you have a trailer full of faceless protagonist, faceless enemies. Empty lifeless city. The protagonist is basically omniscient with perfect timing....

Don't get me wrong, it LOOKS great, but that doesn't mean it'll be worth a shit. If I were a producer, I'd want proof there's a story, not that you had a cool idea for an action scene. Still, it gets an upvote for possibly being cool at some point.

I gotta agree with the last two people. Looks great, but virtually nothing of substance. The whole giant leaping thing, dramatic pauses when landing, and the whole casual elimination of one's enemies without breaking a sweat is tired and ridiculous. The guy spends so much time NOT looking at his attackers. If he obviously doesn't care about the attacker since they're not much a threat, then why should the audience? The whole "one man vs hordes of inept bad guys" thing has been done to death.

Its just way too Final Fantasy-ish to me.

I think it has the mark of an amateur, inexperienced filmmaker. It's money-shot after money-shot. Now, technically it looked very nice, but if you compare it to intros to videogames, for instance, it's a lot like the inexperienced directors of those - action, shot after shot topping itself, posing main character in every shot, it gets boring.

Have to agree with the majority of comments. There really isn't anything interesting about that trailer: no story, no depth, no character development. Just run 'n gun action. It got boring about 30 seconds in.

Exactly... The gun turrets must be utter shit to miss a guy just flipping between them, the bad guys did an awful lot of standing around doing nothing. The flash bomb thing didn't actually seem to accomplish anything as they were all still standing afterwards. How the hell wasn't that flying thing hitting him with it's machine guns when he was running in a STRAIGHT LINE? You would think robots would be better at shooting than that! (same goes for scorpian thing).

Yeah, nice animation, does nothing for me in terms of wanting to see more of this though. At all.

I want to see a STORY for fuck's sake, not an action sequence.

Agreed on the above comments.

Honestly, if you watch Anime this was just a cut clear rerun of every action anime convention ever. Nothing original. It felt like watching a mash up of Ghost in the Shell and a couple of other action animes.
