Something is a bit fishy here, its been a long time since computer gear stopped using through-hole components (the big chips and capacitors). Maybe I'm paranoid but this would be much easier to CG than to actually wait 5 years with what appears to be a really old circuit board.

I installed an ant colony in my pants and photocopied my butt every week for five years.

I thought this would be amazing but it just didn't deliver anything. This appears to be pretty much all effects, I can't really see any evidence towards the description.

Where's the video?

papercut, this looks like he may have installed a obsolete motherboard within the colony as a base, since the real electronics would need to be pristine to function.

That said, there are some effects like the "moving bar backlighting" that not only need to be planned and carried out over several days in a time lapse, but to synch it to music ques? sounds more like a guy planned out months of time lapse to an already choreographed music video.

I don't know if this is totally fake or not but either way it's been edited to such a degree that it may as well all be CGI.
