"America's not Racist -- It's just that Blacks are Shitbags"

A Florida fire captain's explanation of how he knows that Trayvon Martin wasn't racially profiled.
messengersays...

If that's how racists think then I'm glad it's out there. I've learned more about racism and racists attitudes from stupid comments from racists surrounding this one event than probably from any other one thing. Is it newsworthy? Maybe.>> ^longde:

Cenk, I get it that the Martin case increases hits, but why is the facebook comment of a nobody newsworthy? The opinion of the average redneck is no mystery to anybody.

I'm of the opinion that most people are racist, especially those who think they aren't. And that's why most people overreact to racial issues, because they're never sure if they're handling it right, so they tend to overcompensate. Either that, or they really just have no clue what's going on at all.

Still, aside from the fact that what this guy said was racist, it was also completely f-ing ignorant and self-contradictory. And I love it when shit like that gets so much exposure. Especially when it's just on some douche bag's Facebook profile. I hope it helps his more intelligent friends to call him out for being such an asshole.

Captain in a fire department isn't a nobody and not your average redneck.

He's nobody to those of us impervious to fire so HA!

From the point of view of having an authoritative opinion in the Martin case, he is a nobody.

As a son of the south, I would argue that many a fire chief or fire captain is a full blooded redneck. In this case, his crass opinion merely confirms the fact. I say average redneck, because I have never met an exceptional one.>> ^CrushBug:

He says that more white people take more welfare than blacks... that's partly true and is a pretty interesting insight on how people twist facts to project their agenda... The rest of the info should be revealed that a much higher percentage of black families are on welfare than white families.

Far too much focus on race when it comes to the Zimmerman and Martin incident. I think the issue is a grown man putting a teenager in a questionable situation and then shooting him dead. Teens make stupid choices, they don't need to die for those stupid choices. Zimmerman made a stupid choice, got arrested and charged...got let go on a first offender program, he got a second chance. And he took Martin's second chance away by acting rashly.

And I wonder if people are focusing on race because it makes it easier to come to terms with the fact that killing a teenager who you chased down the street and probably scared the hell out of when he turns to fight....might just be wrong despite you thinking you have the right to do this shit to people. You don't have the right to follow someone when it's obviously scaring the shit out of them...no normal person would do that.

Are you racist? . . . In either case, ah ha!

There's too much goddamn focus on hoodies, skittles, and iced tea. That's what really grosses me out about discussion of the Trayvon Martin thing... I've yet to hear someone bring it up without mentioning that "he was attacked for wearing a hoodie, and all he was carrying were skittles and Arizona iced tea!"

THE CONTENTS OF HIS POCKETS ARE IRRELEVANT. YOU FUCKING MORONS.

Yeah. I didn't say they did. I'm sure if you watched this entire TYT broadcast it would have been mentioned.

Yes, absolutely. I grew up in a community with very few black children. I still remember the full names of every single black kid I went to elementary school with over twenty years ago because there were so few of them, and because they were so culturally distinguishable.

I'm comfortable with the fact that, if I am immersed in a different community, like say at a party or a concert, and that community appears markedly different from me, I react reflexively different. It's not a conscious thing, so it is very hard to change. I believe that it is, in fact, an ingrained genetic response. So when I'm hanging out with my black friends, I have to make a conscious decision to not act differently than I normally would, which means that I am in fact, acting differently. Get what I mean? That, in and of itself, is racism.

In fact, considering that genetics has proven that there's no such thing as specifically different "races" of people, the term "racist", is racist. Identifying individuals by "race" is a cultural, personal or possibly even biological reflexive judgement/strategy, nothing more.

You don't have to think you're better than someone else to be racist, only different, but even thinking you're different can be harmful to another person or relationship. It can even be harmful to yourself.

That's a lot of backwards logic.

Lack of evidence in the two most relevant contexts = evidence of the validity of your claim?

I smell a troll.

I'm a little uncomfortable with how TYT assume this guy is using urban to mean black. From the little bit that they read out, there's nothing to suggest that this doesn't refer to poverty-stricken/dead-beat (delete as appropriate to your political beliefs) inner-city families of any race. The Martin family doesn't fit this group and I suspect it is due to racism that the fire chief assumed they did, but to me, TYT don't come out of this looking well.

It reminds me of this:

I think they assume it because he's talking about Martin and then goes off about "urban" kids. It's not much of a stretch. "Urban" has been a synonym for "black" for the last twenty years.

Funny link though.

messengersays...

Who do you think "racist profiling" can refer to other than blacks? Those are this guy's own words, not TYT's. He could not possibly be suggesting that white people are complaining about getting racially profiled. He means black people are complaining about it. I don't see any other way to read it.>> ^Quboid:
