Irishmansays...That's it, get everyone focussing on the blame game, lets get that media witch hunt circus wound up and into full swing, in case anyone notices that the IMF now controls the British and American economies.
keitholbermannsays...The IMF is key to the revitalization of our economy. Thankfully our world leaders came to a consensus at the G-20 and have wisely agreed to triple the loans available to the IMF. This will ensure expansive deficit spending leading to a stable world economy.
Any country who resists this economic help is being foolish and should expect punitive reprisal from our world leaders.
blankfistsays...Obama will need to bear some of the responsibility eventually for making it worse, but this was caused mostly by Bush.
And, keitholbermango, are you serious? Deficit spending? Really?
quantumushroomsays...Americans were "stupid" when Bush was elected. Now that there's that many more illegal alien invaders, entitlement creeps and dead people voting thanks to ACORN, suddenly everyone's a genius again.
Bush can be blamed for opening the door to further federal tyranny with the first round of bailouts, but the Kenyan* and his merry band of tax cheats are responsible for printing a trillion in Monopoly money, raising taxes which further hobble the American economy and seizing unlawful power over private enterprise, furthering the American collapse into communism.
No one sane would trust a media poll when these mainstream malakas all but collect checks from the DNC.
* still waiting for that authentic birth certificate, not a Hawaiian document anyone born anywhere can get.
volumptuoussays...^QM
Bush proved that Americans need to pay very close attention to politics. And once they did, they made a liberal black guy the Preznit.
Deal with it.

QM, I'll admit I was wrong with who I voted for when you admit you were wrong about who you voted for...bush sucked and it looks like Obama is puttin' gasoline on the fire bush lit.
Irishmansays...See how easily people fall into arguing over who is to blame?
quantumushroomsays...Bush proved that Americans need to pay very close attention to politics. And once they did, they made a liberal black guy the Preznit.

No one paid any attention at all. No one in the media scrutinized the man himself, they skimmed an image and symbol. Obama is not just another "liberal black guy"; from what little we know of him he's an ultra-leftist radical and we'll ALL be "dealing with it" as this would-be dictator attempts to overthrow the real America in favor of his corrupt vision of an all-powerful government and dependent population.
QM, I'll admit I was wrong with who I voted for when you admit you were wrong about who you voted for...bush sucked and it looks like Obama is puttin' gasoline on the fire bush lit.
Look at what the left ran against Bush: in 2000 a pathological liar/egotist/Clinton protégé and in 2004 a European-leftist gigolo who lied and betrayed his country's military.
Bush made plenty of mistakes, but he didn't consider himself the center of the universe like The One.
No one was "wrong" to vote for Obama. Uninformed, dazzled, angry or addicted to novelty, yes.
volumptuoussays...If it makes you happy QM, I also tried to sift this:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Obama-Appoints-Exec-Who-Helped-Cause-Global-Econ-Crisis
keitholbermannsays...QM must be a closeted bigot who is angered by Obama's skin color. Or maybe he's opposed to someone with such eloquence and poise? Obama is nothing short of a polymath who will best to lead this world once again to prosperity, better conditions for the working class, and a world we can all feel safe in.
jwraysays...QM is still repeating nonsense that was debunked years ago, such as the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth ads.
RedSkysays...If anything this kind of poll just promotes simple-mindedness by dumping the blame on people who frankly were the least responsible.
I wouldn't blame the bankers. They were acting on behalf of executives who were obligated under law to maximise returns for their shareholders. Yes, they took massive gambles and yes obviously that had a highly pejorative effect on the world economy, but the failure was a lack of prudential supervision being extended to these investment banks. They should not be held personally liable for the outcomes these decisions had on the world economy but merely the effects on their own companies.
The fact of the matter is, the finance industry was and still is highly competitive, companies are constantly pushing for hostile takeovers on weaker performing banks. What do you think happened when shareholders of a finance company that is taking on moderate risk, shareholders who are frankly not as informed as the executives, are proposed with a takeover bid from an investment firm that is making greater returns on higher risk? This is one good reason why the big 4 banks in Australia emerged relatively unscathed by the credit meltdown. Australia law dictates that they cannot merge and presumably are restricted from merging with large offshore banks as well, thus allowing them the room for more sound decision making over rabid profit seeking.
No, it is the regulators and the legislators of the regulation that were to blame. Even looking at it from that point of view you can't blame Bush, or the Republicans entirely. Yes, in some cases they pushed for deregulation, but at the same time the Democrats were pushing to extend unsustainable sub-prime mortgages on to people who clearly had no chance of paying them off, particularly when house prices began to crumble. Generalities are probably misguided here too, I don't know for certain, but I'd imagine it would have been a select section of the House/Congress pushing for these measures.
Regardless the blame game is meaningless. The fact of that matter is, analaysts, investors, politicians and financial media outlets alike were suckered into the assumption that this bubble would continue growing. The real cause here was the group-think collective.

Btw, just for your information, the term illegal 'aliens' is a distinctly American phrase that everyone else in the developed world sees as the blatant form of dehumanising foreigners propaganda ploy that it is.
HollywoodBobsays...QM's just an idiot troll parrot head. Anyone who's ever looked at the Political Compass knows that Obama is still right of center.
It's so ridiculous that this country has moved so far to the fucking asshat conservative right that when we elect a right of center moderate, he gets called an ULTRA LIBERAL by all the neo-con loving morons!
vaporlocksays...FU QM... Typical RW BS.
bleedingsnowmansays...80% + 70% + 26% = 176%?
WTF?!?

Bush and bankers are jointly responsible for the economic meltdown. The guys who deregulated wall street during the Clinton years should also be in the poll.
gwiz665says...Don't think it was a either/or situation.

ElJardinerosays...26% blame Obama?
Wtf? How?
26% of Americans deserve to be put to sleep maybe?
quantumushroomsays...While commiecrats valiantly defend the Kenyan, he's over in Europe apologizing for and badmouthing America while praising Europeans, half of which America saved from annihilation in WW2 and the other half which was busily exterminating entire populations.
He's also ignoring America's allies in favor of sh;tass tinpot dicators in backwards regimes. He's just a god-damned embarrassment and affront to all the things that make America the greatest country on earth: liberty, freedom, and a government that answers to the people, not the other way around.
H-Bob: since Obama's voting record is TO THE LEFT of Ted "Swim" Kennedy, how is he not an ULTRA-LIBERAL? I guess if you're a commie he's "to the right". BTW I respect American communists: they don't lie about who they are and what they're about, unlike taxocrats.
Redsky, thank you for your informative post.

Would you prefer the term illegal invaders? They're sure aren't dehumanized as much as the American taxpayer, who has to pay to reward criminality.
Illegals have no right to be here and certainly no right to any kind of welfare or "rights". They're not American citizens, they deserve nothing except our goodwill and trade when they stay on their side of the fence.
If you want to explore real brutality, research how Mexico deals with invaders sneaking across its southern border.
Asmosays...I would try to respond without dipping to ad hominem but there isn't anything vaguely close to fact in your post QM (or even reasonable inference) worth responding to.
On the plus side, it must really chap your ass that your side lost if you still have sand in your girl parts this far along. And that most of America disagrees with your sentiment and isn't willing to drink your amnesiac kool aid. =)

I prefer 'illegal immigrants', it's the term everyone else uses and is clearly the most accurate. I don't pretend to condone it, but the way you talk about it, or frankly any politician or media figure is counter productive. None of these people, who go on and on emphatically about illegals stealing US jobs while infering tacitly xenophobic dialect have any practical solutions. Politicians want to be seen as rallying against it, but they typically accomplish nothing other than scoring political points. Little can be done to stop the free flow of people especially over such a large borderline. A fence that is difficult to or completely insurmountable, especially over that kind of landmass is not feasible, neither is surveillance. Any funding used purely on border enforcement would be much better used rooting out cross-border crime rings.
The fact is, the only thing that will eliminate illegal immigration in the long run is working to equalising economic conditions on both sides of the border, and that means keeping and encouraging freer trade, and granting more temporary work visas for Mexicans. And yes that means accepting the fact that Mexicans will 'steal our jobs', because when it comes down to it free trade has the exact same effect, and if you did happen to miraculously reduce the tide of illegal immigrants looking for employment substantially in the US, the multinationals that currently rely on their cheaper labour will pack up and move, typically to Mexico or another country with lower real wage levels, as has already been the case in the past. Now of course worker protection should be extended to older workers in lower skilled industries who are incapable of retraining into new jobs, and government services to temporary workers should be limited as I'd imagine is already the case. It's a completely unavoidable conclusion though, railing against illegal immigrants blindly is equally as counter-productive as continuing the drug war.

You're contradicting yourself.
OBAMA'S EUROPEAN TOUR = NATO = AMERICA'S CLOSEST ALLIES
Please cease making up fake "facts" to suit whatever bias you already had.
eric3579says...Do you blame the banks for the economic situation? 80% said yes
Do you blame the Bush for the economic situation? 70% said yes
Do you blame the Obama for the economic situation? 26% said yes
Not
Which one do you blame for the economic situation?
solventsays...Oh please. US presidents are just puppets in the hands of their masters (international zionist criminals). They are just a face to hate/blame etc and that is their job.
bleedingsnowmansays...It's a terrible way to represent information.
Under that interpretation 0-26% could have blamed all three, 70-80% could have blamed bush and the banks.
I'm not against the reporting or the story, but the simplification is foolish and doesn't present the information in the right way.

It's true, most of the southwest US was stolen from Mexico in Mark Twain's lifetime, after Texas was taken over by "illegal alien invaders" from the USA.
