New Rule: Make America Grind Again

spawnflagger says...

I think he's against all religions, hence making Religulous.

I like him because he's old-school liberal, and not afraid to call out some of the extreme-left insanity of new-school liberals. Probably he sees it more because he lives in CA.

But I don't subscribe to HBO, and only watch his "New Rules" or monolog clips on YouTube (when they're not already 'sifted, of course)

New Rule: Make America Grind Again

I think Bill Maher would have to be masculine first, in order to have toxic masculinity.

I'm curious where his stated statistics come from - the Nielsen survey had over 100 questions and not 1 about sex. And if no one is masturbating then why all the traffic to porn sites? are they really watching those videos for the plot?

Exclusive Look At New Killer Drone Small Enough To Fit In

spawnflagger says...

Even Amazon Delivery Drones could be re-purposed to drop grenades from an altitude high enough to be inaudible & hard to see.

There were several examples of near-future dystopian sci-fi use of killer drones on Black Mirror...
1 was a small flying kamikaze drone that had facial recognition and a shape charge just big enough to penetrate the targets skull.
Other was Boston-Dynamics-style "dog" robot that had a gun embedded into it's front "paw" and was programmed to kill all humans. Both terrifying and hopefully never deployed IRL.

If that's the selling price to military, probably includes licensing/chips for secure comms, as well as testing & certification to some arbitrary mil spec.

and while it's way cheaper than a Hellfire missile, this thing wouldn't take out a tank, and likely not even armored car. might be enough to penetrate the tank of a fuel truck though...

Why are they even $6k? FPV drones aren’t 1/10 that much, and explosives are cheap. Any terrorist worth his salt could make 10 at home for that cost.

Texts from Russian soldier to mother before he was killed

spawnflagger says...

wow, didn't realize the Russian soldiers all had their phones. seems it would be relatively easy for Ukrainian telecoms to track every Russian SIM/IMEI, at least within 20m accuracy.

I was reluctant to believe this was possible because only idiots would let kids keep their mobile phones while they are driving a tank, but apparently some russian units are so badly equipped or their comm equipment is so bad that they use phones for communication. The induced incompetence of a dictatorship is mindboggling.

Why the Olympic monobob event is only for women

spawnflagger says...

nothing new... the Russians have been sending burly "women" to the Olympics for decades.

I think they could take this monobob 1 step further, make it purely a skill sport by adding weight such that the combined pilot+sled weight is the same for everyone, and use a railgun-style launcher (tech existed for rollercoasters for years) that sends everyone at the same speed. That could even be a mixed-sex sport, like Nascar.

The simple tool that can open most US stores

spawnflagger says...

compare this to computer security flaws - typically the researchers that find the flaws disclose them to the public a few weeks after notifying the vendor.

but with the physical lock industry, this is a flaw that's been around for decades, that they refuse to fix because it would cost an extra $0.25 in metal for each door.

being that he's the lock picking lawyer, probably he's aware of the legalities of his side business.

that said, there are some countries where it's illegal to own or possess any lock picking tools. (don't know the details about how locksmiths operate? maybe special license or local police do that job)
