I'm not sure where you got your information but in general this condition is very manageable and only incapacitates an animal for a few moments per episode.

Unless the kitten is constantly exposed to startling stimulation there should be no issues with it getting enough nutrition.

Tell me that the McDonald's employee with the pipe was acting in self-defense and not revenge for most of the fight. To my eye, and I've seen a ton of these fights in person, once the McDonald's employee got the upper hand (and it only took one or two hits), he went into revenge mode, thus surrendering any moral high ground he may have had earlier.

At the end of the video you can even see his fellow employees try to grab the steel pipe out of his hands and plead with him to chill out.
