I actually feel similar to dr. phil about bumfights - I think it is exploiting homeless people and is undeniably demeaning. That being said, kudos for the dr. phil look on the creator.

crap, didn't mean to upvote. It was kind of funny, only I had seen a much more humorous version with gareth and tim off of the bbc version. The thing is, there was build up with stapler/ jello mold. F'ing yanks - can't even come up with their own jokes.

I took a trip to new york recently and had the pleasure of seeing a similar talk to this one featuring Dr. Tyson and Ann Druyan. Turns out he was a student of Carl Sagan's at Cornell and runs the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History. Very personable guy.

Agreed dag. He preaches to the choir instead of trying to win converts - but in his defense, that's his style. If you take Carl Sagan for instance - he was far less antagonistic while espousing the same basic ideas.

I think Dawkins has also stated that he won't debate "creationists" because it gives them a valid voice - hence the sarcastic answers to some of the questions.

About that rant...

"kraut" and "nigger" are two different cases. The "krauts" were in power and attempting to take over the world. The "niggers" have been oppressed for centuries on end, and have never held any sort of power in modern history. One is attacking authority, the other is perpetuating it.

You might think the P.C. police control things like this, but in reality they don't. I'm sure you can use the word "nigger" in public whenever you like. Just see how far that gets you in the real world though...

for choggie, you can knock pbs all you want, but there were some pretty damn educational shows that aired. Sesame Street, 321 Contact, Newton's Apple, Nature and Nova were staples of my childhood and they definitely didn't "dumb me down." It's interesting to see these clips again, from a different perspective like knowing who Grace Slick is and understanding what she did.

that has to be one of the wittiest mad tv sketches i've ever seen.
