Bill Moyers: NRA 'Enabler Of Death'
Bans on guns in other countries rewards them with much lower rates of gun-related deaths, and overall homicide per capita than we've had in probably a century.
The only reason the same wouldn't be true here is if Americans are just inherently more violent and bloodthirsty than the people in other countries.
I'm not really sure that's wrong, but I'm pretty sure most anti-gun control people would be uncomfortable with so plainly stating the assumption underlying the whole "guns don't kill people, people kill people" line.
>> ^A10anis:
I suspect that an out right ban would probably prove as ineffective, and counter productive, as the prohibition laws.
Four Second Pit Stop
>> ^Deano:
>> ^robbersdog49:
There hasn't been refuelling in F1 for years, and yes, a 4 second stop is considered pretty poor. Most are around three seconds, with mclaren leading the way with a 2.4 second stop last race.
Wot, no refuelling? No fun! I should watch a race and see what else has changed.
Lots. For example, Red Bull is a top-tier team now...oh, and F1 cars are all hybrids now (kinda).

Holy crap! Talk about attack ad!!!!
Simple questions for people who're standing up in defense of Mitt:
Does Mitt think Bain was wrong to do these things? If not, why try to hide behind technicalities and grey areas? He's said before that attacks on Bain capital are the same as attacks on capitalism itself, why not just stand up and defend capitalism?
If he thinks they did do wrong, doesn't that still reflect poorly on his leadership since he choose a bad (and as-yet unnamed) successor to entrust his company's operations to?
For that matter, who did he entrust his company's operations to? Who does rightfully deserve blame for Bain's wrongdoings?
Moreover, what policies would a President Romney implement that would deter companies like Bain from doing similar things in the future?

VICTIMS of OBAMACARE
>> ^xxovercastxx:
I'd have been just as happy with a bunch of Romneycare clones popping up at the state level, too, though. I don't see why the blue states should be stuck with a broken system just because the red states don't want it (and conversely, if the red states want to keep their broken system, I don't see why they should have to get something better).
But what about blue people living in red states, and red people living in blue states being "stuck" with a system they don't like?
I guess my problem with that whole framing is that it makes it sound like there's some moral equivalency at work between red & blue people's preferences. Blue people stuck in red states are upset that some people can't afford the treatment they need, while red people stuck in blue states mostly are just bellyaching because they think someone got helped by a doctor, and that maybe some of their precious dollars were used to commit that horrifying act of decency.
Hence the video.
I'd be fine with a federalist approach if what we were talking about was differing ideas of how to achieve universal coverage at a basic quality level (and incidentally, the ACA allows for states to do their own thing as long as it covers as many people as well as ACA's system would). Instead we seem to have differing ideas about what our moral obligations to our fellow citizens are: keeping taxes low, or making sure everyone can afford the healthcare they need?

Mitt Romney turns his back on a medical marijuana patient.
To me, this isn't about Romney's stance on the issue of marijuana, it's about the utter lack of empathy. Unfortunately he's practiced enough to know that he needs to run away from a situation like this, for fear that it may expose his heartlessness.
Real people don't react this way to situations like this.

This is the least of my worries about R-money (@bareboards2, look what you made do!).
Yeah, he's a dick, but let's face it, Obama isn't lining up to endorse medical marijuana either.

The Inequality Speech About The Rich, TED Won't Show You?
It's a shame, I would've liked to see a ~20 min TED talk on this topic, done with the level of quality I've come to expect from a TED talk.
