Crow Insults Man

MichaelL says...

Biologists are learning that corvids -- crows and ravens -- may be more intelligent than parrots. I sometimes wonder why no one has suggested marketing crows as pets -- they could probably easily adapt to our environment as they are everywhere in our cities. They could probably even be trained by law enforcement for useful work.

Honest Trailers - Transformers: Age of Extinction

MichaelL says...

Only ever saw the first one on TV... Thought it was mind-numbingly stupid, the rest of them barely impinged on my consciousness.
IMDB sez the movie barely made it's budget back. Can we assume that this series is done?

TYT - Ben Affleck vs Bill Maher & Sam Harris

MichaelL says...

As a Canadian I don't know TYT or know of Cenk other than video clips I come across... We probably exist at the same end of the political spectrum, but, his arguments are often so full of fuzzy logic and bizarre interpretations that I end up disagreeing totally with him.
Here his comments are contradictory, he makes up 'facts' which are simply his opinion, etc, etc.

Bill Maher and Ben Affleck go at it over Islam

Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes

Wow, that's a lot of stupid right there

MichaelL says...

It was almost a head on with the oncoming truck. It looked like it was going to swerve to the shoulder at the same time as the car before the driver decided against it.
So it could have been much, much worse...

Seth Green is pretty passionate about Batman

MichaelL says...

I think he meant that Batman isn't above breaking bones and dishing out more hurt than necessary at times whereas Supes wouldn't do that.
And, while Batman won't kill, he also 'doesn't have to save you' whereas Supes would never allow someone to die through his inaction.

wait what, Seth?
"Superman is like I won't ever kill people and Batman is like you do what you gotta do"

Er, no. Not at all. Batmans whole schtick is not killing. Ever.
Not even the joker.

Seth Green is pretty passionate about Batman

I'm one of the few people who liked Affleck as Daredevil. The first time I saw the scene where he (Daredevi) let the bad guy get run over by a subway in an act of outfight vigilante justice I was impressed with his bad-assery. I thought then that he would make a good Batman. Prophetic.

X-Men: Days of Future Past -Quicksilver Scene

MichaelL says...

Yeah, that sequence was pretty original and awesome...
I think the same character is appearing in an upcoming Marvel movie but under a different name due to licensing issues. It will be interesting to see what they do with the character.

Compilation Of People F'ing Up The Ice Bucket Challenge

MichaelL says...

Man, did your comment make me laugh!

Drachen_Jager said:

So when do we reach the point when more people die from ice bucket challenge than die from ALS? Are we going to need a new, even dumber challenge to raise awareness about the horrible disease IBC?

A Cop being a cunt

MichaelL says...

Okay, to me it looked more like he was getting his elbow out of the way... tucking it in which causes his shoulder and head to tilt (hope that makes sense).
Watched it several times...

Obesity PSA - Obesity doesn't happen overnight

MichaelL says...

Yeah, I've seen references like this. It's crap. A quick Google search turned up articles where fat people were motivated to lose their weight because of fat shaming. There was a recent article in our local paper that made a similar point. You can always find a study to support your view. I prefer the evidence of my own eyes.
Obesity has soared in one generation because we now refer to fat women as BBW. Manufacturers of planes and cars, clothing are now designing for heavier people.
Acceptance of fat has led to the current crisis (and I do acknowledge the role of the fast food industry which I compare to the tobacco industry).
Remember how cigarette smoking was once seen as glamourous? Not any more... it was re-branded as a disgusting vice that took its toll on your health, your looks, your breath and people (like me) dropped the habit so that in one generation it's the exception rather than the rule.
Sure, there are hardcore smokers who will never be cured. And some fat people are always going to stay fat rather than develop some willpower. But it should never be accepted or promoted somehow.

In regards to fat shaming or what you might call "tough love" as an effective way to help deal with obesity. Just two links of many.
