I've always liked the phrase 'music is the expression of the soul'. I think it answers that question rather well.
Wonderful video, was having a rather drab day, and now my mood is much improved. Loved the chello at the start, it's my all time favorite instrument and I rue that I never learned to play it.

I didn't say that he didn't do anything wrong. But just because he arrested someone who was later released or found innocent doesn't mean that he's abusing his power or the person that he arrested. I also did not claim that the men were endangering the public, I just noted that their freedom of speech was not without limit. And that's not a Twain quote.

Hyperbole is "obvious and intentional exaggeration" and is exactly the word that I meant to use. I take it that your reference to the 14th amendment refers to section 1, specifically "No State shall... enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law..." Are you suggesting that due process was not followed? The officer gave what he believed was a lawful order. The order wasn't followed, so he made an arrest. It's possible that the officer is incorrect, but as long as he gets a fair trail then due process has been followed. As for the 8th Amendment... cruel and unusual punishment? Hyperbole indeed.

Meh, the courts will sort this one out. The cop was right, though, that even though the First Amendment does offer protection, it does not offer complete and total protection. You cannot yell fire in a crowded theater, etc. The tag of Police Abuse is hyperbole.

I'm with spoco2. He realized that he's ignorant about something so he asked for additional information. He clearly specified that what he was thinking couldn't be right. The entire issue with people like the woman in the video is that they're ignorant. Wouldn't we want to show her examples of moral homosexuals that had contributed positively to their communities? Why wouldn't we do the same for spoco2?

As for ignorant southerners with accents, I agree with bmacs. More educated people in the US tend to shed their extreme accents. Or, more precisely, they tend to acquire a middle America accent, which most Americans perceive as having no accent. I think one reason for that is that as they interact with a variety of people, they start noticing their own accent and realizing how different they sound. For southerners especially, there's a very negative correlation that comes along with that, so if they want to be taken seriously they might want to get rid of their accent. I remember noticing my own accent in my early teens and working hard to eliminate it.

It's important to note that there's more to the libertarian party than economics. I describe myself as somewhat libertarian precisely because I don't agree with them on some of the issues described in the video. I'm not sure why the guy had to try to be a dick, though.
