Houston Police BEATING Teen Suspect Chad Holley

Djevel says...

So, if I understood that correctly...the mayor was blaming the release of the tape with the officers being charged with only oppression and not assault or more? Salt in the wound...

I guess when you come from a country with an overpopulation problem, the extreme loss of life isn't really that absurd.

"Hey! 480 people just died in the last 30 minutes from a crazed, homicidal replicating robot! Looks like the police department has a couple of job openings! Verah nice!"

G20 police training purposefully mislead the officers

Djevel says...

Seems like this sort of thing frequently happen at the G20. As such, this strikes me as a "beg forgiveness rather than ask permission" sort of tactic. I'm not sure how such travesties of abuse of power could occur time and time again, yet they always try to pull it off after the fact as something of an outlier. Which is really odd considering these sort of events illustrate how a police state could easily get out of hand against it's citizens. The folks in this chain of command should be relieved of duty, at the minimum, and fined heavily with some degree of consideration for such a lack of oversight.

Think twice before you rumble with a man of god

What a horrible, inconsiderate guest. The host invited the man into his home, provided him with a frothy beverage, some reading material and interesting conversation. Then the dude damn near assaults him, insults him and jets on out of there in righteous indignation. Pffft.

When entering into the USAF back in the mid-90's, I was advised not to put down my denomination as Atheist. The SSgt wouldn't go into details as to why, other than if I happened to be in a life threatening situation with others, it may be impressed upon those of religious persuasion to save their brethren before making the attempt for me. It would be easier for "everyone" if I just put "non-denominational" instead. Throughout basic training and tech school, I also had the luxury of additional detail (labor) because I wasn't comfortable attending church services. Later, as I gained rank, it was also impressed upon me that to further my career, organizations, such as Toastmasters, would be enthusiastically encouraged from my leadership chain.

If things have changed since then, fantastic, but I was never given the impression that the armed forces were the enlightenment of civilization in regards to secularism, "all walks of life" withstanding.

Need more cgi muscles. Not a fan of 3D...glasses are ridiculous and makes me feel like I'm going cross-eyed sometimes. Which makes an almost typically abysmal theater going experience that much more annoying, thusly, I'll rent it on Netflix when it comes out.

Upvote for the admittance that our prison system is the new "sanitariums" of the 1800's. People go in and never come out, irregardless of the "crime" that sent them there to begin with.
