An Unfortunate Nameing Accident

I wouldn't take that for granted. When you study English as a foreign language some words are the last you'll learn.

Years ago I worked for a semiconductor company with quite a few east Asian customers. One, from Korea, was a company called "Prix". Naturally, when we pronounced it we said "Pree", ala Français. "No", they said quite definitely, "we're pricks".

Customers, you can't live without them.

Lorne girls at the 2020 Torquay Surfboat Carnival

Thanks. I have found that words are important when dealing with different flavors of English. About a hundred years ago I took a whitewater rafting trip in the Rio Grande gorge, near Taos. Most of our party went in 8 person inflatable rafts, with one guide to give suggestions and encouragement. Most of our party eventually took a swim in the river.

Afterwards, one guide told a story. He had a boatload of Australian tourists, and, at a critical point really wanted all of them to paddle hard, so he said "Dig in!". They all turned around and looked at him like he had two heads. What kind of septic jargon is that? Shortly afterwards they all took a swim.

Gotta wonder about that beast. Every groundhog I have known has been pretty quick to dive down a hole and avoid conflict. Except with each other. They're loners.

And a very merry christmas to you too. Or whatever floats your boat -- the solstice is coming right up, and I'm looking forward to it.
