Creationist Junk Debunked #2

9364 says...

Wow.. I thought the hardcore Christians were stretching things to make them fit into their book that was mostly written 2-300 years after the death of Christ. In Iraq there is an 'astronomer' who insists the earth is flat and the sun is real small and circles the earth because his holy book says so? Wow.. that even tops the banana guy.

Left 4 Dead - 101 Witches (In One Room)

The game does only have 4 hubs (with 4 lvls each) so it can be repetitive, BUT, what the above haven't said, is the game has great AI that makes it so each time you go through the lvls, they are different. The amount of goodies you find, the weapons, enemy places, etc, differs every time or near so.

But the multiplayer is where the REAL fun is at.

Absolutely fantastic, this is talent, this is real art. This is culture.

There are a handful of places in the US where you can experience this kind of natural creativity without the taint of corporate greed. Very few.

Intervention with a Video Game Addict

9364 says...

I'm sure it's real, but it's more an inside view on what a fubar family is like and a kid that grew up getting more emotional involvement and interaction in video games then from his actual family. His mom needs to help the guy grow up and get a life. Don't just support him and give him everything he wants and then cry because all he cares about are his games. Make him get a job or go to college, and learn some social skills. He's clearly a bright kid and he could do well and he'd learn theres more to life. The hot girl 'friend' who is constantly playing games but clearly has no intention on ever getting together with him, isn't helping.

Also I agree with some above that calling obsessive behavior like video game playing an addiction does a disservice to actual addictions, chemical addictions. This kid is simply obsessed since childhood. Something tells me he was raised more by playing games then by any sort of adult figure.

I am a game lover and have been since I was a child (when video games first became big with the atari.) I've been playing games for years and I never stopped and to this day I am very eager about new games coming out that I'm looking forward to. But I also am married and have a daughter and a healthy social life. I play games nearly every day, but it's half an hour or an hour at a time and more on the weekends.

This kid needs to be forced to grow up and learn that you can love video games and lead a healthy and enjoyable life.

Loved the Max Payne shtick though.

Roadsign In Texas Warns Drivers Of Zombies Ahead!

9364 says...

Reminds me of a time when I almost got in an accident after laughing so hard I couldn't see past my tears in a similar sign changing.

Only in this case it was a sign in front of a Wendy's that was supposed to say 'Now Hiring Closers.' Only someone removed the c, so as I drove past, I read;

Wendy's

Now Hiring Losers.

When I finally stopped laughing I decided to turn around and go through the drive through and tell them that someone changed it. At first they didn't believe me, but when they realized, they were all red faced. I figure I best let them know, cause it really could have caused an accident. Funny as hell though.

PETA's Banned Super Bowl Ad: "Veggie Love"

9364 says...

Does PETA realize that without eating meat our ancient ancestors never would have developed the brain we have today? As well that if as a species if we stopped eating meat we would become less intelligent with each generation?

We are omnivores after all. Not eating meat is simply wrong. I can see being against the slaughter houses and all that stuff, but we eat meat for a reason. If anything hunt your own meat if your against the meat industry. It's an important part of our biochemistry.

Zero Punctuation: Gears of War 2

9364 says...

Is anyone else sick and tired of the forced artificial 'cover' system dropped into every single console shooter these days? (Mind I'm a PC gamer but I do play console to pc 'ports'.)

Yahtzee appears to be getting tired of it as well. Every game from Halo to GoW to Mass Effect throws in these waist-high walls in the middle of roads, paths, even indoors to give the players cover. It's fake, it's boring and it's old hat. I much prefer shooters that take advantage of true collision detection for their cover. Like FarCry 2, where cover consists of things you would use for cover in real life, like trees. In FC2 if I'm injured I duck behind a tree in hopes of gaining cover for a few seconds so I can put my elbow back in place, instead of ducking behind a low concrete wall in the middle of an office hallway to regenerate ala GoW.

Am I alone in this?
