Russell Brand on the Graham Norton Show-Hilarious Prank Call

Will Rock Band Drums Teach You Real World Drumming?

9364 says...

Yea that was utterly and completely a setup. I've put rock band drummers on my 9 piece Tama kit and they had no idea what they were even doing. They tried to hit the drums in the same patterns they had taught themselves from rockband and were constantly loosing timing, didn't know the first thing on how to use the highhat properly. My nephew and his best friend.. it was rather funny.

However they did learn some basics from it such as a skill many have terrible trouble, learning timing and to teach how to make their appendages do different things at once. They were able to learn some very basic beats right off the bat, but anything with an ounce of difficulty they could not do what so ever.

Still with rockband their only experience they could learn to actually play the drums significantly easier then someone who had never played an instrument in their lives. (Which, coincidentially, are often the same folks who think drumming is the easiest thing in the world.)

So much cooler than nascar; still boring to watch.

Nascar is boring as hell. People only go and watch them so they can try to break records for largest group of drunks at a sporting even

F1 is still pretty boring IMHO but the wrecks are beyond better.

Bill Maher Talks About Marijuana & Michael Phelps Scandal

9364 says...

>> ^AceOfKidneys:
no, that's wrong. Swimming 5 hours a day is MUCH healthier then smoking weed, AT ANY POINT, IN ANY POOL, in comparison TO ANY WEED.
I've been a toker for about 5 or 6 years, everyday, excessively and I've had to stop recently because I became a pathetic, lazy, non-contributing member of society, not to mention socially awkward, and often paranoid, and I doubt I could say the say if I spent all that time exercising.
I'm not going to say that chlorine isn't bad for you, but you can't say marijuana's better for you than TAP WATER, when you have no scientific reasoning to back it up, sounds a little religulous doesn't it?

By the way, I agree for Phelps not saying anything about this, lets remember, he himself did not apologize, his publicists did, and besides that, I don't think Phelps should become a marijuana advocate, because he doesn't know any god damn thing about it. I agree with the legalization of ALL drugs, but I am a even stronger supported of EDUCATING people about drugs, like Bill maher.
PS, please don't say I don't know what I am talking about, a couple of months ago, I would be shouting at the comments I just made, but we can't just blindly follow lifestyles because someone else is telling us not to, we can keep being dogs.

Nobody is here saying you should sit on your ass all day and toke up for years. Pot, like anything else, yes even swimming 5 hours a day, can have detrimental effects from over-use. And yes even swimming will have negative side-effects long term. Nobody is saying that swimming for 5 hours is worse then smoking pot for 5 hours. But over long term their is a plethora of scientific research that shows that it can, particularly with Chlorine. Obviously a glass of water isn't going to hurt you, but consuming gallons of chlorine over years is VERY bad for your health as Chlorine is one of the most dangerous carcinogens that we consume, most of us multiple times daily.

Mahr is a major advocate for legalization, I'm sure he knows a great deal about the subject. Again I agree with you that Education is very important, though personally I would be against voting for all drugs personally. But there is zero sense in the criminalization of personal use of pot. In moderation of course.

Shit when Phelps got in a car accident after drinking and driving 4 or 5 years ago there was less of an outcry and he got into less trouble over it. He didn't even loose a sponsor. But a picture of him smoking a bong some years ago.. thats the worst damn crime he could have committed apparently.

Bill Maher Talks About Marijuana & Michael Phelps Scandal

9364 says...

He is right that the guy was harmed far more by being dipped in chlorine for the past 8 years more then that bong of pot smoke. He's also right that you shouldn't drink tap water unless it's from a well as it's assuredly had a tun of chlorine dumped into it to kill off any contaminates, though it's not as good at it's job as other more benign, though more expensive, methods.

I personally have a water cooler with a local companies spring water. Not only does it taste far better then my tap water but it's free of chlorine, which is a significant cancer causing agent over long periods of use. It's also been known to increase chances of strokes and heart attacks.

My point is the chlorine in the pool he swam in every day for 8 years was significantly more detrimental to his health then the bong he smoked. I swear every year the outrage over pot criminalization grows. IMHO it should be up to each individual state whether pot be illegal or not. This is the United STATES of America after all. I think, when it comes to medical use at any rate, President Obama agrees with that statement and it won't be long before he puts a stop to federal raids that waste billions every year.

Atheist Michael Newdow pwns FOX

The 'under god' thing to the pledge, to our coins, and other areas only added 60 odd years ago, which was the wrong thing to do constitutionally. I don't see what the fuss is with removing what never should have been there.

This is just another facet of trying to push religion onto people, by pretending that this issue really matters to them.

The Slayer track in Guitar Hero looks really hard

>> ^LadyDeath:
That is what I call a future "Metal Band", I can see their expressions, even the dog is metal hell yeah!

Thats a possibility. Though if they are like most Guitar Hero/Rock Band players, not a one of them has the first clue how to play ACTUAL INSTRUMENTS. So no.. they will never be a real metal band if the above is true.

Though the double petals are pretty cool. Still I'd stick with my own 9 piece Tama set any day. Playing real drums is a hell of a lot of fun then tapping on plastic pads along to someone elses music.

The Worlds Smartest Man Works in a Bar (Fascinating)

9364 says...

IQ is a measurement of intellect but obviously not a measure of ones creative and non-linear thinking potential.. and this video shows that as absolutely obvious and that is why IQ isn't remotely as important as some people suggest.

So this guy's IQ is supposedly higher then Einsteins, but it's rather obvious that the work Einstein did to farther the knowledge of humanity is beyond higher then this guys.

Then you have Darwin with an IQ in the 130's (lower then my own by good bit,) but his ability to 'think outside the box' is beyond anything this guy could like ever achieve, or I could ever achieve myself (and my IQ isn't close to 190+.)

If that doesn't say that IQ alone as a measurement of intellect is not remotely as important as it used to be.

As to this guys attitude, he is bouncer after all. But I bet every single one of his co-workers hates him. If someone talked down to me like that with that (and people have before,) I'd do my best to avoid him.

Real life sea serpent caught on film

Very cool. I can absolutely understand how ancient people seeing this might have thought it was a naga or a sea-serpent or a water dragon. Then as stories grow over telling them they get bigger and meaner looking.

Very cool to see one alive.

Conan O'Brien Frustrated With Hannah Montana's "music"

9364 says...

I cant WAIT till he switches over to 11:30. I can settle down and night, watch John Stewart and then Conan O'brien, the two best US evening TV shows on the air and get to bed before 1:30 at night! Sorry Colbert, but your just not as funny as Conan, and your not even close to as good as Stewart. (IMHO when the Daily Show is on it's game, nothing is even close to as funny.) And of course Leno will be on at 10pm but I've never really been a fan of his.

Why Atheists Are So (F*cking) Angry

9364 says...

Agree with those above. It's not religion that makes people stupid and ignorant. If religion was removed, they still would be and we'd simply have another scapegoat. Besides that are religions and religious or spiritual people who are a benefit to society. Few to none of them are monotheistic however and some (such as Buddhism,) do not include the worship of a deity.

Now to comment on the video.

1: How can Ben Stein be so intelligent yet so absolutely clueless? To other bits about that subject. Evolution doesn't require 'belief.' Either does any other scientific principal or theory with such unsurmountable evidense.. such as gravity. People denying such theories is about as stupid as denying that the earth circles the sun. (Though there are plenty who believe the opposite because their holy book says so.)

2: It makes me laugh my ass off to see people who think we are in the end times. Really it does. Every time I meet someone who thinks were approaching the end I tell them. 'You really should read up on a little phase of western cultured called the Dark Ages. Because trust me they had it WAY worse then you can imagine. You think were coming to the end today because of war, plagues, etc. If you were able to experience life in the Dark Ages you would never even think such thing again. Because your life as the a utopia compared to what those people experienced.' Really, such thoughts are laughable.

Bizarre Republican Arguments on the Stimulus Bill

9364 says...

>> ^flavioribeiro:
The first two arguments aren't bizarre at all.
The GOP chairman's distinction between jobs and work makes perfect sense, as long as you're willing to accept the implied meaning and not play the fool.

Correct or not, it's moot.

I think if you went up to a family who's primary 'bread winner' is out of work, they are several months behind on their mortgage and are having trouble feeding their family, and said;

'Heres your choice. We can put you to work in the next month or two. It may not last more then a year, and it may be in a field your not very experienced in. Or we can work on creating long term employment in a field you might be better suited in, only that will take at least 6 months and more likely a year.'

If that was you.. what do you think the family would choose?
