accidental votes

I have this video posted:

http://www.videosift.com/video/13-seconds-on-the-sun

and Sylvester_Ink downvoted it, then apologized and said he meant to upvote it. No hard feelings sylvester. But that brings up the point, do we have any recourse for a misclick? I have never misclicked on this site, but it is obviously possible.

So please add a comment option to remove a vote through siftbot, like *unvote or something. Some criteria for abuse prevention, like only 3 a month or only revoking downvotes or only within 15 minutes, would be good. Thanks.

I think the digg method of a time-based voting scheme would be good, with a small 5-15 minute window. I think we discussed this previously?....

Anyways, upvoted to balance it out.

I wouldn't object. When I first came to the VS, I saw a couple of people mention accidental downvotes, and didn't think it would happen to me. Looks like it's easier to misclick than I thought . . .

Is this really necessary? It's a good idea, but every time someone does a downvote and apologizes for it, some other person on the sift moves forward to rectify the wrong. Either way, *quality post.

I have voted incorrectly a few times either due to carelessness or a dodgy mouse. I don't think it's an essential feature. Whoever has to code it would have to factor in the amount of times it will be used versus the effort involved in coding it. And if you were going to have a time period I would suggest far less than 15 minutes. If you screw up then you will want to undo that straight away, so give them a minute or two at most.
