VideoSift needs a FAVICO.ICO
What do you guys think? I for one sorely miss a nice 16x16 pixel image that serves as a tag team partner to the text of my bookmarks.
I thought we used to have one?
Lets have a design competetion for a shirt! Ugh, there seems to be a pattern with all my posts, they all involve design competitions for free swag.
Anyone else think we need a favico.ico to be a dominant force in the interwebs?

We do have one. Works for me, at least. What browser are you on?
IE 70.5730.11 Is what I use from work, which is where I am now. I use Firefox at home, and yeah I seem to remember one being there. Hmm... weird.
I just tested on my other computer at work running the same version of IE (it's also on a different network) still no favico.ico
Ok, well I dug around the source code and found it:
http://static1.videosift.com/videosift/favicon.gif
but usually it needs to be in .ico format, usually just a rename of a .png file will work.
i think it's better to have both .ico and .gif and link to both... but i am not sure.
rename a .png? i thought it was rename a .bmp oh well, live and learn.
Has to be PNG if you want an alpha channel.
I've never had a problem with the favicon in any web browser. Can't recreate your issue in ie 6, 7 or ff.
no.
the "correct" way of doing that is:
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="http://URL/file.whatever">
