VideoSift Catchall Account At YouTube
If anyone needs a video uploaded to YouTube, I have created a catchall account so that you will not be guilty of self-linking. If this gets out of hand time-wise I may reconsider, but for now, I can convert and upload those rare videos that you aren't able to find anywhere else. Spare me the *nsfw viddies, please.

p.s. I have one that I've used for other sifters as well, so let me know if you need me to help out...
Just curious what you mean, when you say, you will convert the video? Sounds like a lot of work.
Hi Eric,
It just depends. For instance, if you find a video on a web site that the Sift doesn't embed, then it can be downloaded, converted to avi format and uploaded to YouTube where it will be reconverted to the proper format. Not really a lot of work or very time consuming, actually. Or, if you have a personal vid that you want uploaded, Youtube will convert it when you upload, as I said.
Sometimes it can be a little tricky getting the stuff downloaded, but usually it can be done.

Good idea: but I'd be careful...Google has come down hard on copyright infringement since the Viacom legal action.
Would be a shame to see copyright (or left) compliant clips being removed from YouTube (& the Sift) if the account was breaching on just one dodgy upload. I've seen alot of deleted accounts recently, plus alot more removed vids - and would be bad to officially link VideoSift to something like that.
Good point benjee, my account doesn't specify Videosift, I don't know about SC's
Awesome. Also, use bugmenot.com for accounts.
Is there any way a quicktime video can be downloaded and posted on YT.
FYI, there is no need to convert the video to avi. YouTube accepts flv (flash video), mov (quicktime movies), mpeg, mp4, etc. Your milage may vary as far as conversion quality. And if you do need to convert, ffmpeg is a decent free tool. It has some gui wrappers, such as iSquint for mac.
And a hint for youtube copyright issues. Choose meaningless names, descriptions and tags when uploading. No one, as of yet, looks at the contents of videos to find instances of fair use that they do not like. They just search the text. Which is why you get so many false positives as well.
On a Mac with Safari, when you want to download a movie you see in a page, you can usually just go into Activity and option-double-click the largest item. If it is still downloading you will see the size increasing. Firefox has better tools on either platform, but I like Safari.
Can anyone explain how to upload a video over 10 minutes to youtube?
