URLs That Work, But Probably Shouldn't
Apparently it is possible to navigate to any post anywhere in videosift from any of the channel sub-domains, yielding some rather undesirable valid URLs, e.g., http://kids.videosift.com/video/Porn and http://lies.videosift.com/video/Shoah-by-Claude-Lanzmann-Landmark-Holocaust-Documentary. I'm not sure how to prevent that from happening, but it's probably best if URLs like that don't turn up anywhere.

it's bad that videos who are not part of a channel, can still be viewed as if they were. Fixing this would automatically solve that problem.

exactly my point - and thanks.
This is how it's always been, including on the old CMS and I left it because I didn't think anyone cared...
But now videos and talk posts cannot be opened in a channel to which they do not belong. Instead it will forward you to the equivalent page on the main site.

Seems like that's what it should do. If I go to a specific channel, I'd expect to see only things associated with that channel. But, yeah, it is a double-edged sword. If I'm submitting a video and do a search for dupes first, I'll only get videos from the channel I'm currently in. That's exactly how I found the holocaust URL - searched 'holocaust' from within the Truthiness channel.

Actually, that's how the listings have always worked. It's just that if you clicked into a video with the url of a diff't domain that it would go ahead and display it. (Although, I do more prefer how I changed it.)

You can't actually just initiate a search within a channel. Any search you initiate in a channel will necessarily redirect you to the main site for the actual search and results, which is why you saw results from everywhere. To search just within a specific channel, you have to use the Advanced Search page and specify the channel you'd like to search.
great move lucky! I didn't report this because I'm a nitpicker and if I asked about every little change I'd like...
I guess this will also help google indexing (when I searched google site:videosift.com, I always got multiple copies of the same page).
LULZ at those urls!
