Transparent animating stars

Hey gang, I got a little bored so I started modifying my profile page, only to realise that a dark background makes the white painted edges of the ranking stars stand out. So as a solution I thought I would make some small animating transparent gifs that could be used instead. Here is a sample

Beautiful. Something needed to be done and this is much more than just something. Great work.

I can't wait to get them all up and running. Will it be possible (and/or necessary) to also do the big red probation P and the red termination circle-slash?

Great idea (I was looking into modifying the VideoSift images myself, last night!) Can I suggest we have non-animated PNG format one's too (Portable Network Graphics allow full range of opacity - not the on/off transparency that GIFs support). P.S: GIFs allow a continuous loop or single run of it's animated layers - will need to duplicate the one full rotation as many times as you need it to spin.

As much as I'd love to just blackball IE, the vast majority of web users (even here on the Sift) are IE users. I don't think we will ever see a day when MS will adhere to all standards (on and off the web), but we have a responsibility to all Sifters to offer the best possible Siftsperience. (Boy, I sound like a Smurf.)

I was joking Lucky: I know only too well about the large number of internet users who are stuck in the early 90's. Unfortunately, I realise others aren't so knowledgable about the lack of standards in Microsoft products (hopefully, a miniscule amount less after reading this SiftTalk!)

Oh, yeah: the rest of the graphics could do with a with a clipping of white too; like voting panel, channels & a couple of logos (maybe difficult with drop shadows). Why I thought an optional PNG scheme maybe good, as there's no white to edit out...more than willing to help out if needed!?

Yeah benjee I just noticed those, if the guys send me the originals I can crop the white edges, but i'm sure they can do that themselves, even the category text images need to have the same treatment
