So I think the FAQ needs to change
Apparently we do post full movies. Even ones with a full screen of French warnings that say it is forbidden to rebroadcast or copy it. This is not a degraded copy: this is the full, real thing apparently having been copied from a French source. This was posted as a commercial pull to a site that lets people watch movies for free, and we are aiding them.

This isn't even vaguely in the gray area. If we publish this, there is no full movie we won't publish "until someone objects," so lets get it out of the FAQ. Bring on the full movies, because apparently that's just fine.

The FAQ needs to be modified in this regard.
Since VS is simply an embedding website we should allow for all content to be posted, the site doesn't host it at all and content can be brought down if the need arises.
At the same time modification of the FAQ in this regard would mean more full movies and TV shows, which will only lead to higher numbers of dead videos down the line and the eventuality that it would be harder to get quick fix videos for which this site is known for.
Per case events like this are fine though, the votes would decide it. But honestly who would want to watch a movie on a small window streaming in poor quality across the internet? Not a clip but the whole darn movie.
I would.
But I think you make some good points Farhad.
This is a 1964 movie. The concept of copyright for works of art was meant to be protection for your lifetime. THe absurdity of corporations holding copyright in a rolling perpetuity is stupid. Corporations were never meant to hold copyrights (maybe patents).
At any rate, the videos are really a non-issue because the end up dead in very short time. Technically the admin were worried about enabling copyright violations, hence no full episodes, but I think that is ridiculous if you consider the amount of clips and tons of other stuff which violate DMCA.
Also, I'd recommend http://www.ovguide.com/ for watching full movies.
I'd like to see the FAQ redone in a way that is more inviting, fun, funny, etc. with a separate 'about' page. With all the writers, comedians and creative people on this site, I don't see why we can't all work together to make our instruction manual fun to read.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
^ I agree, we'd like to wikify it. It's something we're working on.
Of course it should be changed. The only thing we don't allow are snuff and porn, so yeah. If anyone tries to sift tv-series, they are removed within hours from the feed anyway, so it would still balance out.

be sure to add in all the posting 'tweaks' for youtube videos; like setting the start frame, removing captions, etc. I have those posts bookmarked in multiple places, but having them all in a logical home would benefit the whole site.
OK. Cave. Caving. Caved.
