Problems Uploading Preferences
Are you tired of seeing me here yet?
I've been trying to upload some new preferences and I keep getting:
"failed to save your preferences - please correct the indicated errors"
But, no errors are indicated. I've run into this before and it will sometimes work (about every 20th time). I'm running Firefox 5.0.
I know you longtimers must see the same questions over and over, sorry.
Any ideas?

Rocking out in the Sift Lounge again, eh?
Why do I always think you guys are talking about me?

Check the "login" tab of your preferences and make sure that your browser has not erroneously auto-filled the password section. If it has, blank it out and then try saving. I had this happen once. Because all of those tabs are essentially one page, any errors on any tabs can prevent saving.

Nope. I just tried it. Same thing.
Thanks, Dag.

OK, after submitting and getting the error, look through all the preference tabs. One of the fields is going to be the culprit - it's bolded and in red to give you a hint which one it is.

That's just it. Nothing is bold, or red.
I just hit the save preferences box a few times in frustration and after about three times it took. This seems to be the pattern. Once in a while it works. So, it's not a really big deal. If you have other things to worry about I can live with it this way.

I'm stumped then. I'm not able to reproduce the problem on my end. >> ^Boise_Lib:

Thanks for the time and effort. It must be something on this end.
I really enjoy this place. Thanks for everything

My pleasure. Maybe someone else might know what's going on. You might try other browsers and see if that makes a difference. I use Chrome. >> ^Boise_Lib:

Firefox? I've been having problems with it lately. Not too long ago it started having problems loading VS pages. It might load 98% of the main page, but not the 'submit' comment section, or the sidebar. It just hangs and waits for something to load. Sometimes it takes several refreshes before I can see the whole page.

Also, I cannot submit anything from CollegeHumor with Firefox. If I try, I cannot see the 'Modify' or 'Submit Video' buttons in the 'confirm Submission' page.
This is Firefox doing it, and just for VS. I have started to use Chrome when I want VS to work fine.
NetRunner said something about this being a known bug with Firefox, but for the life is me I cannot remember anything else
@mintbbb the main thing I said was "I'm having that problem too, and not just with Videosift."

It's pretty bad with VS though. Through some googling I found this which at least sounds like the issue.
The official Firefox page describing the issue is here, and at least on two of my PC's I've confirmed it's not the malware thing.
Also, if it's a bug in Firefox, it's also not fixed in 6.0. Other browsers (Opera, Chrome, IE) work fine.
WEll, you said 'problem' 'Firefox' 'issue' 'something else involving technology/and or geeking'. I am sorry that my eyes glazed over, but that usually happens when I learn that it isn't actually me, it is an actual problem with something else

I was just happy it wasn't me. I have been known to crash systems, just by logging on! Must be my magnetic personality!
