Maybe it's time I created a channel...
I've had the ability to create a channel for a while now, but haven't really put much thought into it until recently.
Current thinkings....
*arabia - For all things Middle East. (I grew up in the UAE you see, so have a personal interest in the Arabian Gulf).
*technology (or *tech) - Technological innovations. However this may end up being quite a broad channel with all sorts of videos being added - computer technology, engineering technology, car engine technology etc etc. Maybe it's okay to be nice and broad?
What do people think?

Arabia would be cool, but *middleeast might be a better invocation, only so members would know that it includes Israel. It would include Israel, am I not mistaken?
*Tech might be contentious, because MarineGunrock asked for that channel eons ago and was turned down by the admins, who said that the Geek and Engineering channels already covered tech stuff. But maybe you could change their minds? I don't know.
I think I may have mentioned calling it the middleeast channel before, but it was called out as being a potentially annoying *invocation to type due to the two e's next to each other.
I didn't realise that technology was shot down before. To me geek is "geeky" stuff... but there is cool and innovative technologies that I wouldn't necessarily call "geek". To say everything to do with computing is geek is a bit dated and stereotypical. Besides, geek to me could include really nerdy videos that have nothing to do with computing at all. If geek is supposed to be computers only, I'd argue that it should be renamed to reflect that...
My 2 cents.
I like the idea of a tech channel. I'm certain that would have followers, and I do think that there's a difference between geek and tech, and engineering.
Instead of the other invocation, just call it *sand...
I like the idea of having all the regions of the world covered like Arabia/middleeast. An Africa channel would be good as well.
*middleeast
*mideast would be a good one. Then all we need is a *latino channel.
If I do the Middle East one, it would have to be limited to the Traditional Middle East: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East#Traditional_definition_of_the_Middle_East
As opposed to the Greater Middle East, which to me contains a whole bunch of countries from Africa or Asia.
Just for soliciting input I'm going to give you a *quality. I'm so magnanimous I make myself sick.
Awarding Hybrid with one star point for this contribution to VideoSift - declared quality by kronosposeidon.
I think I'm gonna go ahead and look into setting up a *middleeast channel over the weekend.
Hmmm, actually. I've just noticed there's an Islam channel, and after reading it's description it's very, VERY similar to what I had in mind for the Middle East channel. It's just far too similar, it pretty much is a Middle East channel (or at least encapsulates it).
Back to the brainstorming.
I liked *tech back when mg first suggested it. If you can get his blessing - and dags - you should be able to have the channel, imo. Middle East would be good too.
While were at it. Maybe * waronterror should go away, since it's a relic propaganda term from the Bush era and we already have a military channel.
Also, election08 should become *elections and joedirt should change his screenname to Mr. Belvadere.
I think there are other channels that should be renamed/clarified too.
I mentioned the 'geek' channel above... but also catsanddogs, should that not become *animals, as it basically encapsulates them all right now? Should a video of an elephant go into catsanddogs? If not, maybe *animals would be a good channel to have?
@dag and @MarineGunrock, what are your current thoughts on a *tech channel?

Apologies @dag and @MarineGunrock if you already got this question from three posts ago. But I edited that post to put in your names, and I'm not sure the system sent you emails as it was an edit
So yeah, anyway, what are your current thoughts on a *tech channel you guys? Cheers!
I'm all for a tech channel you bastard as it's been a long time coming, because I should have had it three years ago and I believe there is VERY little overlap with geek and science. I hope Dag allows it the channel nazi and that you get it up and running soon. I won't be jealous. I promise. Dick.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
We've been through the wringer a couple times on the tech channel concept - the upshot is that it's very, very broad - and almost all cases covered by geek. I'd rather not go down that path again.>> ^Hybrid:

I've had plenty of times where I've felt weird putting something in geek, when it clearly should have been in tech. Geek seems to be people in my mind, or overtly geeky things, while tech is technology, gadgets, computers etc.
