Human Sexuality Thumbnail Pic

Thanks to all the enthusiastic sifters who have got the new collective off to a sizzling start. Swampgirl is vote leader with some very hilarious and raunchy stuff worth checking out if you haven't already done so.

Just a quick question: Is the collective thumbnail too risque?
Are there any sifters who fear retribution from bosses, lecturers etc because of the nature of the picture?

Please let me know if this is the case.

Appreciating Ant's opinion and all... It's probably best not to censor something just to satisfy a minority. My suggestion to Ant and others that worry about the thumbnail at work or whatever, is to save looking at those sifts at home.

Another suggestion would require some admin-fu here. Enable filtering of collectives. Then one would not need worry at work.. Screen everything out but my collective... it's always safe

It's from fashion photographer, David Lachapelle and it's called Tantric Sex. He did a controversial shoot with Mike Myers (posing as a Hindu God) for Vanity Fair in 1999, which got the magazine into trouble. You can see those images at: http://www.saja.org/vfdetail.html

I guess they are pretty much nude, if you don't consider butterfly vibrators and body paint as clothing. It is a photograph, but the image has been really doctored, so it has a painterly effect.

Its awesome, don't change a thing... then you become just as bad as all those vatican priests who went and had all my favorite classical statues sanitized with dainty lil fig leaves... a pox on them!

Well, I come to VS daily from work and home. The thumbnail almost looks like porn (I know it isn't in the bigger shot). I just don't want co-workers and bosses to get the wrong idea when they glance by my cubicle (short walls and 21" LCD monitor heh -- sucky) during my late lunch hour. And I noticed there are a LOT of videos in this collective lately.

Since it looks like the image won't be blocked/removed/changed, is there a way NOT to show this collective/image at all?

A quick browse of the collective shows about half are marked nsfw. Filtering that at work might help.

I've noticed in the profile settings we can filter channels we don't want to see, maybe an option for collectives as well would be an idea as the site grows for people in situations like ant.

If you have access to your hosts file at work you could also filter the site flickr.com which is where the images are stored, you'll just get page not found messages where they should be instead. I do that to block ad sites but it'll block everything at flickr.com, not just that.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Thanks drattus - that's good advice, we won't have collective filtering immediately in the new VS. I second turning on the NSFW filter at work as the best short-term solution, as most of the videos in the collective would be tagged so.

drattus: Filtering would work, but everytime I enable it, I get blank home pages. This is a known bug and supposedly will be fixed in v3.0.

lunkwill: I use SeaMonkey, and Ad Blocker (including Plus) seems to be incompatible with Linux/Debian's IceApe (aka SeaMonkey) when I tried it last year. I will just use its Image Manager feature.
