How to have more people entering VS contests?

I love the contests VS has been having, and I will do my best to enter as many as I can The prizes have been fabulous (the coolest I won is the http://shop.videosift.com/product/The-OCD-Chef-Cutting-Board) and I don't think it is that hard to submit an entry (I suck at pumpking carving and yet ended up carving one anyway ) - in most cases you have needed to sift a video of the subject, take a photo or video, or just post a facebook link!

Yet the number of participants has been pretty small - just 6 in the OCD giveaway, 6 in the pumpking carving.. Even the member-arranged cheesefest had less cheese this year I think.

We have a fabulous community here, and I'd love to see more people entering the fun contests. Like I said, the prizes have been fabulous, and the contests are FUN! The scavanger hunt was driving me nuts, but it was fun!

HOW to encourage more people to enter? I was thinking that how about a BADGE! We have badges for doing all sorts of things that help VS out, why not give badges also for entering contests. It seemed like the LoungeLizard badge added people to the Sift Lounge

Hey, you could even have a contest to name the badge!

Thank you for reading. Badge or not, I hope more people will enter the future contests, because I don't want them to end just because they don't draw in too many sifters!

*quality idea.

Might work well if contests were always done in a way so that they have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. So there were Gold, Silver and Bronze VS contest badges and they could be accumulated. So people could see how many of each you'd won... just a thought...

... perhaps on top of a participation badge?

I would of had to go buy a pumpkin for no other reason than to carve it for a contest I knew I would not win, and winning is the point

Those were my issues, it seemed like the contest was more geared towards people with families or a little one. Non of the people I know pick up a pumpkin unless making a pie or small vegetarian stuffed dish.

That is some insight into that, take what you will from it.

The scavenger hunt is confusing as all holy hell and I am not in favour of it.

I dont use social media, so people who do all these tweets and facebook entries have a massive leg up on me, What I do is unique and creative video or picture entries, but I can only have one of each, even if they are completely different.

Above all that you must understand people are mostly lazy now.
