*DupeOf for Gold-100s
The minimum level required to execute the *dupeof invocation has been lowered from 250 diamond down to Gold-100 star members.
Keep in mind this ability is extremely sensitive and cannot be undone once executed, so use with caution. This means watch both videos in their entirety rather than just deciding based on thumbnail or title that two videos are the same, and make sure you paste the full, correct URL rather than trying to type the URL (which one might be tempted to do if it's really short).
Thanks!

Did you fix the bug yet? Yesterday it still was working improperly. I accidentally posted a dupe yesterday that received 4 votes before I knew that it was a dupe. So I did the *dupeof thing, and I lost 8 votes in the process. So apparently *dupeof doubles the actual lost votes on the dupe.
Fixed yet?
Ah, I missed that post.
Sorry for the bugaroo, but it's been fixed for future posts and I'm fixing all previously affected vote counts right now.
I'm deathly afraid of that command. I've already bungled it once and had to throw myself at the feet of King Ant and beg for mercy. Fortunately he was very good-natured about it.
Be. Careful.
Don't go by the thumbnail, watch each video in entirety, double and triple check the submitted date and time, and double check to make sure you drop it in the right comment window. And for God's sake, don't drink and *dupeof.
^I have to get drunk to have the guts to perform *dupeof. I do the same thing with my day job. I'm a nuclear reactor operator.*
*Kidding. I'm a surgeon.
I think *dupeof Googles are not such a bad idea
(like Mail Goggles for Gmail, where they have you solve simple math problems before sending an email after certain hours)
This is going to be interesting
I'm gonna dupeof the brains out of this here sift.
I'm gonna dupeof that asshole on the ukulele video into something awful.
RAAAAARRR! I have finally arrived at the end of the road, and my powers are complete! THE WORLD IS MINE NOW, YOU HEAR? ALL MINE!
MWAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
Erm, disregard that. I forgot to put on my human-suit before typing. I'll be good, I promise.
I posted this in Dags latest blog post, but it might have been missed by other so post it here as well:

Made it so when a dupeof'd video detail page is loaded you are redirected to the live video instead.
That's nice Lucky, but what if we need to look at the killed video? I can see someone wanting to see the comment thread or to verify that was duped correctly... Also I'd like to see a siftbot comment left in the original video documenting the dupeof so that we have a proper trail and have knowledge of the event.
I was pondering the same thing.
I just made a change (that I won't publish anywhere unless it becomes really necessary because it's so complicated to explain), so if you want to view a dupeof'd video, bypassing the redirect, you can add "noredirect" to the query string of the URL. For example:
http://www.videosift.com/video/A-Slip-n-Slide-made-out-of-Asians?noredirect
This is the only good thing I could think of because it's more important that incoming links land on live content than we natives easily see killed posts. If anyone has any better solutions I'd love to hear them.
For all you Gold-100's that want to try out your new powers, please visit this playlist for videos that still need to be merged:
http://www.videosift.com/playlists/nibiyabi/Dupes-calling-all-diamonds-and-crowns
That sounds good Lucky, I agree that it's more important that incoming links land on the live content. It's not going to be often that the old content will need to be viewed.
How about also adding a siftbot comment to the live video to indicate the dupe video?
It's terrible to just be redirected. Make a link in the top like wikipedia "Redirected from foo" that links back.

That's a very good solution, gwiz. Thanks.
I've gone ahead and made that change. To test it out, visit this killed dupe:
http://www.videosift.com/video/A-Slip-n-Slide-made-out-of-Asians
It will redirect you to the live video, which will display a link at the top of the page back to view the killed dupe.
Excellent.
due to cocking up my first ever dupe invoke, id like to get demoted until i have paid for my ineptitude.
