Check for Dupes when Validating Embed Code
So let's say I come across a video that has already been sifted, but I don't know that and try to sift it anyway.
I fill out all the info, rack my brain for a good title, insert and validate my embed code, choose channels, add keywords, etc... and then only after I click submit to videosift does it tell me that the video has already been submitted.
It would save me a good bit of hassle if it told me before I went through all the trouble.
When you submit a video, the website thinks for as second and validates the embed code, telling you in nice green letters that it is valid. Would it be possible to have it check and see if it's been sifted before when it does that?

May want to ask @lucky760 about this one. I'm guessing he's the only one with an answer.
It's supposed to also be validating for duplicity when checking your embed code up front. If it's failing, siftbot must need to be kicked. There may be something broken.
Will look into it asap. (If you don't hear back after a while, please ping me.)
Thanks!
Embed validation works fine over here.
Checks it instantly when pasting link or code.
(On Chrome 31.0.1650.63)
I just resubmitted the current number one video (true facts about the armadillo), and it told me that my embed is good. I'm using Safari v7.0.
It's not that it doesn't check, it's that it doesn't check to see if it's been submitted or not when it validates. I can submit videos that are already on the sift and it won't tell me about it until later in the process after I've chosen a name, categorized it, etc...

I just tried the Armadillo vid and it worked fine on my end (FF 29.0a1, old/new code, manual/auto check)
Did you try to submit a no-cookie embed? Those don't trigger the dupe alarm, coming from a different domain and all...
