I don't think it could work in the same way video sift dose as in people post games, an admin would have post all the content. But Having users vote on games and also be able to manage there collection of games they like would bode very well with the casual games community. There is also alot of advertising money available for games sites.

I'm also very fortunate to Work with and know alot of talented game developers , so getting good quality games would not be to hard.

I agree it would be nice if we some way to sift through all the crappy flash games and discover hidden gems. It would also be nice to be able to discuss/critique games.

As far as I know, there is no flash game aggregator site, so adding that function to the sift could possibly be revolutionary, and bring in a whole new audience. Flash games are getting better and better every year, so it would be good to get in on it soon.

I would do it as a completely separate product and re brand from the sift , due to the fact that games are a completely different media to videos and also because i believe u can monetize a games specific site far better than a mixed media site. (for example Digg dose mixed media very well but im not sure how financially successful it is outside of its fictional market value )

Due to the way flash game licensing works it could prove tricky to have users add there own games but it could be done.

of course with flash games you would have to do alot of the hosting as it is very much frowned upon to direct link flash content (sites like you tube although advertise themselves well (through direct linking) struggle to turn a profit due to the hosting costs).

To minimize hosting costs u could easily have it so that games that don't get to front within 4 weeks are deleated from the site, with only "front" games and Admin feture games staying around for anny length of time.

If Sum one who already works with varocms is interested that would be cool.

There are many flash aggregation sites however non that would be as fluid or clean as a varocms powered one.

sites like new grounds have a strong user base and voting emphasis for content to filter out crappy games but its presentation in my subjective opinion is pore this is due to the way the site has grown over time becoming quite bloated as a result.

What I have in mind would be very clean Direct and focused (in the same way the sift is with videos) as i strongly believe there are a large number of casual gamers that find other sites needlessly complex and wold regularly visit a site that just presented them with good games every day all presented on a single easy to access home page.

as i said you would have to host the games yourself , or have admin add games and have community vote on them.

Dosent matter i was just hoping sum one who alredy works on the sift would make it.

But doesn't Kongregate and Newgrounds limit the voting only to games that they host? I don't think the sift would have to post all the games, just provide a system for linking/commenting. I do like Kongregate, but it feels very hit or miss as far as it comes to liking the stuff that is popular. I think the sift community would suit my taste better.
