What would the difference between this and blogging be? I figure they way we have it now (blog it and discuss) works well and and is democratic enough to work.

Yeah I just see that some borderline videos are 50/50 and the person who goes ahead and discards it gets some negative perspective.

I think it would be a nice feature but only for gold stars or higher.

i would call it *death because nobody can argue about what death is, whereas snuff is in the eye of the beholder. *death could just be a tag, not a freaking debate.

i think all 9/11 videos should be tagged *death for example. Not removed, just tagged *death and hidden by default until a user enables *death in his profile.

the difference between *death and *blog is that one is just a simple tag so people can filter, and the other is a debate about whether or not this is "snuff".

the difference between *death and *snuff is we wouldn't need a seconding system. it's like we have *long, we can have *death.

just a heads up for all who care, beginning this saturday, I plan on holding a formal pow wow here on SiftTalk regarding Iraq vids and the definition of snuff. I would open it up for discussion now, but I don't have time to monitor it until this weekend... anyway, I hope y'all will participate

I don't like this, and you miss the point, I think.

If a video is +blogged, then no one shoud discard it if it's clear there isn't a consensous.

i.e. if someone agrees and someone disagrees, you do not discard it, lol.

so, if you follow this simple guideline, you won't have any problem about being in bad light because you discarded it.

ps. I also don't like this idea, the ban command only works because most of the time a self link is pretty obvious and it only takes two people to check it out and agree that something is self linked. In the case of snuff vids, however, I believe that more of a debate should be held... and in any case, we really don't at this moment even have a group consensus of what exactly snuff is (unlike self linking, which is pretty well founded), so without even having that, an uber simplified command such as this would probably only be abused.
