A Question of Numbers
Does anybody know of anybody who enjoys memorizing long strings of numbers? I seem to be the only person who does this. Or at least I haven't found anybody else who shares this trait.

it's a bit hard to take up a hobby like yours if one is stoned 24/7. memory of a goldfish, see. can't even memorise the numbers at the end of your nickname
I think you're among the autistic, thinker247.
What long strings of numbers do you enjoy memorizing?
Lately I've been working on powers of 2, with the largest number being 2^100. I enjoy using the word "nonatillion."
But my favorite is the square root of 3, which I have memorized to 134 digits.

what about φ?
I work out powers of 2 as well. I don't memorize long strings, but I do like to calculate powers of 2 (up to about 16 or 18) when I'm bored.
Just you and Daniel Tammet.
This video is a dupe of the one above, btw... if someone could take care of that.
That depends. Do you like to memorize numbers because you enjoy it or because you think it makes you seem smart or interesting to other people?
Answer honestly now because it will let me know which link to send you.
The former. The latter is incidental.

Daniel doesn't memorize numbers; he doesn't need to do so.

Nice video on Tammet. Just got done watching it; hard to believe really. The inner skeptic in me says hes faking it...but I dunno...its just hard to comprehend mathematics as a visual landscape.
I wonder what imaginary numbers, differential equations, or combinatorics would look like to him?
Here you are:
