Evolution Of Prince Of Persia Games [1989-2018]
Ha...fun to see how it went full circle, in terms of visuals...
Huge Nuclear Fireball in slow motion
i've been trying to figure out the scale of these events for a while and i can't find any good info. they're so big and so far, they don't visually make sense to me.
New Math vs Old Math
"Get the answer faster" is not the point.
The left explains why multiplication works, whereas the one on the right is a process for multiplying.
The left makes it visually obvious that scalars are separable.
That : (35*2) = (30*2) + (5*2) = (30+5) * 2
The only thing missing (which may have been covered elsewhere) is that : 35 'IS" (3*10^1) + (5*10^0), and that multi-digit-numbers are already presented as separate scalars in sum.

Grooveless metal engineering
No, it's not EDM. It's machined. We produce a variety of cylinder / piston pairs, some with keyed anti rotation or beveled flanges to prevent pull through. The achievement of a visually seamless interface between two parts is certainly not trivial, but with care and the proper sequence of machining steps (guess which face you mill last? right - the one the user sees as seamless) you can do this on good quality CNC's with the right cutters. EDM'ing the complex curved shapes that truly mate across the surface on the early parts shown in the video is very (prohibitively) difficult, as you have to rely on ram EDM which is plain nasty.
It's a type of electro discharge machining. It has been around for a while but it's so damn satisfying!
Counting Trump's False Claims Using Gumballs
Bob.
Lie about Trump all you want, don't lie about me....you know full well that is a lie.
I've never once tuned my tv to CNN, as I've told you a dozen times.
I use multiple sources cross referenced to determine what I think is fact, CNN often provides decent short clips on youtube that illustrate the point succinctly and or clearly but are not my "trusted news source" as you well know....
....but you implicitly trust the biggest liar and fraud of our time without a critical thought. I bet you heard Trump say "Tim Cook Apple", or whatever he's claiming he said today, didn't you?
Don't dare try to impeach my information gathering and filtering skills when you are....well...you.
And the numbers aren't from CNN, only the visual depiction of the independently verified fact check numbers. *facepalm
Yet another useless yet colorful fake story from CNN. King of Fake news.
Just noted its from Newtboy-- CNN is his go to "trusted" news source
Curious Kangaroo Charges Paraglider
I upvote your avatar of Trump behind bars. Makes me happy.
I know how you mean it, but it still is an awesome visual. Something to give us all hope.
Now that you say it like that, I see it.
Building a Camera That Can See Wifi | Radio Telescope V2
This is pretty awesome (and very detailed).
It'd be pretty sick if this could be built into a real-time camera where you can visually see wifi signals around you.
Lion King - Live Action Teaser
Hmm, i'm sure I'll enjoy this. But really, I'd actually be happier if they just kept the original audio, and just replaced the visuals with this new fangled CGI. Nothing wrong with the voice acting/music.

Yeah, there's a really solid reason for that.
I personally like the visuals of the CGI characters. It's a hell of a lot better than I'd assumed a live action incarnation of Pokemon would look, so perhaps my opinion is colored by having had very low expectations in advance.
It feels like those fan art drawings and clips of "realistic" pokemon.
Why George Lucas is NOT a bad director - A Visual Essay
I agree with everything he said... except for the last point.
The story of the prequels is boring and it's not directed in a visually interesting way.
Anakin's transformation into Vader is narratively clumsy and I'm not even sure you can entirely blame Christensen for his portrayal of Anakin, given the clunkiness of the script (blindingly obvious tip: if you're creating the guy who will become Space-Hitler, don't let people call him "Ani").
Lusas is undoubtedly a technical visionary, and he's certainly not a "bad" director, he's just not really good enough to be directing the biggest movies on the planet.
How to Destroy People: Japan's Untouchables
Thanks C-note
This was a good find.
We can draw comparisons to any race or religion.
This injustice of creating sub-groups in society is more ingrained in societies than people even realize. And, while the majority of people don't support the concept itself, they do proliferate the injustice by going along with it, in fear of also being labeled.
Having "Visual differences" between the classes, just makes this deplorable method of sub-classing convenient to the bigots.
The only real solution to this and all "Racism" is not to support it - and stand up and shout at it when we witness it. This is particularly difficult when people are separated into their own groups (neighborhoods) because the racism can be hidden better and the bigots themselves shelter themselves from ever needing to be corrected.
Off topic slightly: I see myself as an alchemist. Part of this is to ignore labels, class and sub class, ignore hierarchies and so on - seeing everything as equal at all times. I don't care about Class, race, names ans so on. As humans on this planet, we are all equal when it comes to rights.
Of course many will disagree with me - mainly the people with more rights.
Liszt - La Campanella (reactive visualizer piano)
The cadences of the different parts / hands is very apparent when visualized like this. Mind boggled.

He is certainly NOT mainstream but most definitely NOT a crackpot.
His ideas and musings should be considered.
Maps reveal hidden truths of the world's cities - BBC News
"Maps" doesn't adequately describe the extent of information that things like these convey. They are more like "animated visualizations".
I took a computer graphics class in college where we learned about data visualization. One of the most famous examples in that field is Charles Joseph Minard's map/visualization of Napolean's march into Russia in 1812. On the surface, it is a 2D map. However, the width of the line showing the path of advancement conveys troop numbers, the color denotes whether they were advancing or retreating, and a connected chart below shows the air temperatures that the soldiers were exposed to, etc.
Basically, at a glance you can easily see the broad strokes of the advance and retreat, and you can get much more depth of information if you look a little closer. These kinds of animated visualizations are definitely continuing on in that same vein -- packing a lot of information into a presentation method that is easy to pick up and also very deep with some more inspection.
Wikipedia article about Minard showing that famous Napolean march visualization if anyone is interested:
