Texas man strips down to make a point about vaccination

newtboy says...

Yes, he's making his point quite well.
He's pointing out all the ways they follow the law and rules of civilization, even though they're sometimes inconvenient or uncomfortable, even though many laws are to protect others more than themselves. He's doing it in a way that no one ignores. He's exemplifying the selfish, outrageous behavior they are championing in such a way that they can't help but disagree with him, which MAY lead to them questioning their own actions and recognising they resemble that display he put on.

When did he call them names?

Mask mandates are in place, put there by responsible representatives. This meeting was to explain why to those too obstinate to understand why, not to let them choose.
They have been told hundreds of times by calm reasonable people, calmly and using data and statistics to explain why masks and vaccines are necessary, and the answer was "keep yer govment vaxine urtta mah blud and yer Fouchi facemask off me and mah chilin!"

Only enforcing it when it's absolutely necessary, only where it's absolutely necessary, and for as short a time as possible has led us to wave 4, the worst yet. It's necessary now until the virus is gone, it's necessary everywhere so the virus doesn't have a Petri dish to evolve in and become far more virulent and dangerous, it's necessary to continue wearing them and getting vaccinated/boostered until the virus is eradicated....maybe until civilization falls if we're unlucky or too stupid to follow directions.

I have no idea why this touches such a nerve for you. It seems so obviously proper to most of us, and an excellent way to show them that they already do tons of annoying stuff for other people's safety, like driving the speed limit and stopping at lights and wearing clothes, not starting random fires, etc....all stuff mandated by the government.

Explain please, why that's improper.

Wait....so you say we shouldn't have a discussion at all with anti maskers/antivaxers, because they'll spout some nonsense?!
Um.....no.
You don't convince people to do the right thing by ignoring them when they do the wrong things for the wrong reasons. WTF are you saying?! Don't have any discussions because extremists will take hold and you think reasonable people can do nothing. Only true if reasonable people stop trying to discuss and convince them of reality, which is your suggestion? Um......

So he is trying to be clever. But is he making his point well?

Its much like us trying to convince Bob and friends by calling them names, its not going to work.

Mask mandate is an emergency measure and should be put in place by responsible representatives, not public debate. It should be explained seriously and not by anecdote. It should only be enforced where necessary and for as long as necessary. Local authorities should have that authority, just like for other natural disasters.

If you start a discussion, extremists will take hold of it.

This is literally the difference between Europeans and Americans:

Europeans: Tell an uncomfortable truth and work from that.
Americans: Tell an outright fucking lie and then act like it's the truth. When the bill for that crap comes due, pretend you did and said the exact opposite of what actually happened and scream down whoever calls bullshit on you.

I wasn't and am not kidding about the bet. It's not vindictive. I'm sick of hearing bulllllllllllllllllllllllshit from these people. I have the attorney lined up, escrow seems simple enough. And the multiple posts were deliberate to draw attention.

These people get on here and reddit and w.e else spouting their bullshit hurting people. Go look on amazon, search for "vaccine" - the top 50 results in the books will be conspiracy nonsense. I'm of the mindset that these people don't actually believe these things themselves. If he did, he'd take my bet immediately. (still very interested if you're reading this bob) But he won't because he doesn't. And i stroll through the internet getting my argument quirks out to know where my faults are. I'm practicing if you don't mind.

Although, you're right, it is somewhat vindictive at this moment- I'm too numb to these trolls and you gotta speak their troll language to get their attention. Bob doesn't respond to well reasoned arguments, he only responds to crazy bullshit. I stand on what I've already said. The damage being done is incalculable, but i can personally say that 5 teachers from my school have died of Covid 19. The harm from this nonsense is real, and if he's made slightly uncomfortable by 3-5? (idk i dont even care to look) comments on his "personal videosift profile," - too fucking bad for him, or as he'd say, "fuck your feelings."

Yah' got little militia groups peppering the usa straddling a fence about if they're gonna kidnap the Georgia governor, and you're worried about me venting my frustration with one of the soothsayers? Spare me.

If he can contribute to a league of morons on the regular to the actual detriment of his fellow Americans, I can communicate, in a way that I see fit, that he should be ashamed of himself.

I upvoted your first "bet" post. Thought it was humorous and pretty bold on your part. Any "poking" after that just feels vindictive. When you try give someone a "taste of their own medicine" doesn't that mean they've won? Go high.

Edit: As far as everyone else, all I know is, you are a teacher.

Trump Storms Out of 60 Mins Interview, Attacks Lesley Stahl

noseeem jokingly says...

The line "GM is dead and Osama Bin Laden is Alive" was brilliant.

The most damning thing about the interview was it is viewable on FB. It's their evidence and it shows none of their accusations.

It's a video version of 'read the transcript'.

Read the transcript. Saw the interview.

Would rather try to restart, renew, and sell New Coke than push for Donnie's innocence. Neither would be easy but the latter would be far more brutal.

But this interview is far more noteworthy...

Do You Regret All Your Lying?

newtboy says...

Hmmmm....
I agree, that's a problem, but if the choice is lonely honesty or lying with friends and family, you probably know which I choose. I've walked away from 1/2 my family because they're dishonest.

As I see it, as long as their pants are on fire, they're gonna get burned. I would hope they would just take their pants off together, even if it's uncomfortable for them to be exposed for a while, but some would rather die than be the odd man out or admit a mistake.

I hope you're right, but i think you may be tricked by wishful thinking. I'm not at all sure he has family, much less that they're the reason he sticks with a con man. I feel like if one woke up to reality, he would shun them as libtards instead of following them into the light. Maybe that's what he fears will happen to him if he calls out the lies.

Edit: ok, if you suggest stick by your family, but don't lie or ignore lies in order to achieve that goal, I'm on board. Disappointment retracted....do you want it redacted too?

BSR said:

I'm saying his love for his family and friends is what he is afraid of losing. That's a pretty big problem. How he handles it depends on if he gets burnt. Maybe it's too big of a leap for him, I don't know.

Edit:

I don't advocate lying. That is his choice. The only thing that may change him will be his lies coming back on him. I say, "Let it be. Speaking words of wisdom, Let it be."
All I do know is, there is a glimmer of hope with him.

Do You Regret All Your Lying?

newtboy says...

Ok....I'm confused.
I agree with the 'stay true to your family' part, but I feel like giving lip service to lies and liars can never achieve that, even when done to avoid conflict or contradiction.

To stay true to anyone, you first have to remain truthful, especially when it's uncomfortable.

Did I misunderstand you?

@newtboy

You are right. Lying is never a good idea.

I stand my ground.

VFX Artist Shows You TRUE POWER of Warships!

Sagemind says...

Way too mush positive enthusiasm for a machine that is purely made to kill people. These human killing machines are brutal in their efficiency. I almost feel like the music should be a sound of dred with a somber tone explanation. Discussing them as entertainment seems wrong to me. Not only that, but this is the decommissioned ship, they didn't even get to the more modern ships which can kill way more people, more accurately, and at greater distances.

Of course, this is all to promote a video game, and they want you excited to buy and play their game, and pump them full of micro-payments. I also know their are people that thrive on guns and killing, but as a human being, to me, this seems very uncomfortable.

No, I'm not anti-video game, just anti-realism in video games and killing people. Give me Aliens and sci-fi, or demons and monsters any day

Utility Pole Change Out.

RFlagg says...

Yeah, I'm a little confused on why the pole is being replaced, as it appeared to be in perfectly fine shape. The new pole seems to be the same height, and design. They got rid of the transformer, and may have fully replaced the power lines, but even so, why replace the pole? About the only time I've seen new poles put up locally, save where one was damaged by an accident, weather or something, is when they are widening a road, in which case the new pole goes up in the new location, then the lines are moved, the old pole is taken out, then the road widened. I've never seen a perfectly okay pole taken out, then replaced... even in accident or weather damage cases, they usually just put the new one right next to the old one (perhaps in the same hole), and move the lines over.

It also looks like they live uncomfortably close to the high power lines.
