Stunningly real graphics

Computer Generated Eye Is Awesome!

ChaosEngine says...

Resolution isn't really relevant. Standard def tv is more realistic than the latest video games even at 4k.

Pre rendered photo real cgi has been around for several years now, but one of the hardest challenges are human faces, because we have evolved to spot incredibly subtle signs within faces. Look up the Uncanny Valley.

To answer your question directly, the human eye can basically detect ~300 dpi at reading length (hence Apple marketing "retina" screens)

What resolution is reality? That seemed about right.

Holy fuck... that has officially creeped me out. Not all of it's motions were natural.. but some were scarily human. And the outfit doesn't help

EDIT: I think what's creeping me out is actually the uncanny valleyness, not in the look but the motion on a fully bipedal robot

Does this mean we are on the far side of the uncanny valley?

Soon, anyone can make a mock up video of any situation, and present it as a possible truth. At that point, no video will be truth. Disbelief will be so overwhelming, we'll descend into chaos, or be enslaved. Considering man's comfort with being dominated, it'll likely be the latter.

I for one welcome our new virtual demi-god overlords!

Elder Scrolls Online Cinematic Trailer

Uncanny valley is easy to avoid if the characters do nothing more than blink. You'd notice it the moment there was some acting with dialogue. That being said, this is nice work. Too bad about the MMO format, I don't have a nerd card with that kind of security clearance.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Opening Cinematic

Maybe it's in the "uncanny valley" of CGI trailers where it almost COULD be gameplay, thus it's more frustrating. The WoW trailers are so completely unrelated from the actual gameplay that it doesn't even make me think of the gameplay.

I'd like to think that some more dramatic scale variations are possible with mousewheel zoom. Heck, even if visual scale doesn't change so much, economic and gameplay scale COULD. What if a battlecruiser took 3000 minerals, 1500 gas, 30 pop, and had a corresponding level of ass kicking?

I agree, it was a bit creepy, it's like he was trying his best to look human and/or likable, but instead ending up dead center in the uncanny valley.
