Homosexuality Is A "Behavioural Issue" - Rick Santorum

Porksandwich says...

Republican is apparently a behavioral issue too. All of those guys give me the creeps. You know something is wrong, but everyone else in the video audience is a little teary eyed and just clapping as fast as their little hands will go. Psychopath/Sociopath/Loon must not translate well through camera lenses.

Thanks for the promote Jigga, I didn't see this one the 1st time around. I'm gonna miss the Hitchslaps...

A friend of mine found this quote from Ann Druyan, Carl Sagan's wife, after he died. Found it pretty inspiring:

"When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to me - it still sometimes happens - and ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his death with unflagging courage and never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don't ever expect to be reunited with Carl. But, the great thing is that when we were together, for nearly twenty years, we lived with a vivid appreciation of how brief and precious life is. We never trivialized the meaning of death by pretending it was anything other than a final parting. Every single moment that we were alive and we were together was miraculous - not miraculous in the sense of inexplicable or supernatural. We knew we were beneficiaries of chance… That pure chance could be so generous and so kind… That we could find each other, as Carl wrote so beautifully in Cosmos, you know, in the vastness of space and the immensity of time… That we could be together for twenty years. That is something which sustains me and it's much more meaningful…

The way he treated me and the way I treated him, the way we took care of each other and our family, while he lived. That is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don't think I'll ever see Carl again. But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful."

Bit of a change of pace to see Louis CK so vulnerable. You can tell it came from the heart.

I know... I love that he can effortlessly talk about throwing his kid in the dumpster, but the loss of the most crass comedian of all time gets him all teary eyed.

Dog rescued after spending 10 years tied to a chain outside

I hate dogs and find them obnoxious, malodorous, and over-rated, but COME ON, PEOPLE!

You've never had a dog. I am sad for you. If you ever do get the chance to know one, and perhaps own one, you will not only find that dogs are not only awesome in more ways than I can put into words, but they will give you a whole new dimension in life. Seriously. They can change your fucking life.

Seriously.

True, I'm not a big dog person but now that I've had my dog for a couple of years since she was a wee pup, I'd mangle anyone who treated her badly.

And I'm not ashamed to admit that watching this got me quite teary. If there is one redemptive quality about watching horrific shit like this, it's that seeing how bad one individual animal get's treated has far more impact than hearing that hundreds of thousands get mistreated. I think we need that occasional punch in the guts to remind us the sort of shit that goes on in the world, and how we should all be aware and try to do our part when an opportunity presents itself to make a difference. Statistics just can't do that.

I'm actually crying here. Not teary-eyed, mind you, but crying.

10 years? Years? Fuck animal control; the neighbors should have stolen the damn dog and brought her to a shelter.

Imagine what it would feel like to you to live like that for 10 years.

Now imagine you'd die when you were 11.

Windows Live photo gallery beta just got this face recogition (yeah, late, but I don't like picasa's thing of not altering the original photos... seeing as I share the photo dirs it was annoying to rotate and update photos to see no effect on another machine... WLG takes a copy of the original and puts it away and edits the original in place so you see the effect everywhere, makes more sense to me.)

and looking at the matches on my kids' faces through their ages really can make you a bit teary... you don't notice it happening, but to see the changes in their faces through time, it brings it to the fore just how much they've changed in so short a time.

I know of a couple people that said they stopped playing this because the emotional tragedy of killing such a living unique creature as the colossi that ICO envisioned was too much for them. Gotta be one hell of a game if it involves you in its world that much.
Really wish they'd release their new one for the PC though: The Last Guardian. The intro video is stunning:

Yeah, I definitely got teary-eyed for a few of the collosi- especially the huge flying one, because he doesn't attack you at ALL! He's just flying around, completely harmless and ethereal and beautiful. You can't even get to him until you shoot him with your arrows.

There was another one that was a lot like a dog that made me really sad to kill as well.

This is the saddest thing I have ever seen, and to those of you making fun of this tragedy, you have no soul, and should be ashamed of yourselves. Where is your compassion??

Some of us deal with negative emotions by finding humor in them. When one of my closest friends was killed in a car accident almost 5 years ago, I made lots of jokes about or involving him. I miss him horribly, even now, and I still get a little teary when I see the wife he left behind.
Sorry I'm not exactly like you, douchebag.
