I think the problem was that his joke was shit. It wasn't clever, thought-provoking, intellectually challenging. It was boring and lazy and unimaginative.

After the woman interjected that rape is never funny, he asked the crowd how funny it would be if she was raped by five men right now.

You're totally right of course, but to be honest, I've always been an appreciate-right-now type of fellow. Even with the lack of sleep and all his screaming every night those first few months, I was sad when considering that the experience would be just a distant memory some day. (And I'm sure I'll be doing the same with baby number two in a few short months. )
